Global warming or cooling may cause areas that are dry to have more rain than needed; rainy areas begin to dry; cold areas warming up and warm areas cooling down, etc., etc. to no end.
With all that, I do believe that if we are having global warming, there is nothing we can do to stop it. I believe with the human population due to double in the next few generations, we are already mathmatically beyond the turning point (if there is a turning point). No one can say when that is. We just need to start living our lives in relation to our new surrounding environment. We plant other crops or different style forests.
In another section today of the internet, I read where the rain forests are being studied to see if they are really a carbon "sink", as I was taught in college, or a CO2 emitter due to the amount of rotting that takes place there. Maybe we don't need the rain forest for the carbon sink when we have the northern hemisphere taking in the carbon. I am not saying the rain forest is no good, because there are other uses for it that we shouldn't lose.

Stuck on the road in ‘snow globe’ China

Unfortunately events like this evidence climate change with unprecedented weather events. Things are getting better as far as travel is concerned. Most of the people we know have made it home for the festival. However, some of the hard hit areas are really suffering from lack of supplies. I've heard that many orphanages are in desperate need of supplies (I've received an email from Our Chinese Daughters Foundation that they are taking donations for this situation, nothing specifically mentioned on their website, but find out how to contact them at www.ocdf.org/orphansupport).

I'm happy that this crisis is getting some coverage in the West. Help is desperately needed. Although I must say I'm a surprised at how well the current administration has responded to the situation. But then again, I'm mostly getting the state-controlled media reports.

Stuck on the road in ‘snow globe’ China

In Shenyang, usually covered with snow and ice, there is none, too cold. I would love Al to come here and tell us there is global warming.

Stuck on the road in ‘snow globe’ China

Tell me again why GLOBAL WARMING is a bad thing?

Stuck on the road in ‘snow globe’ China

It is unthinkable that the Chinese goverment is so inept in this winter distress of their people. Leave it to the Chinese communists to act as tho they have it all under control. Well, for them to have things under control is to call out the police and army to keep the people in check so they cant protest the lack of assistance. The people are expected not to act against this corrupt government. Always the communists try to stop all valid protest so things remain the same. The officials remain cozy in their large heated homes and dont give a hoot that the common person is freezing without running water and food. It is so important that China says to the world that they can handle all their troubles with no further assistance. The magnetic polar reversal, predicted by computer model for 2012 is gaining more attention since its likelihood was first announced. Having moved several hundred miles across Canada the Magnetic North Pole is currently headed for Siberia. While the effects of a Magnetic Polar Reversal have never been observed by mankind, it has apparently happened in the distant past. What's unique this time is that the Sun is due for a polar reversal at the same time. I've speculated that the effects of the polar reversal could fulfill Revelation 6 and if the projected time of 2012 is correct, it supports the view that all prophecy could be fulfilled within 70 years of Israel's re-birth.

Stuck on the road in ‘snow globe’ China

The idiots on this board cannot comprehend the difference between "warming" (as in temperature) and "Global Warming" (extreme temperature change). The jokes on you fools.

Stuck on the road in ‘snow globe’ China

Because China's air is so polluted. it creates its own weather patterns. The pariclulates in the air capture moisture and became rain, snow or ice. The real problem is one we have chosen to ignore, but on which was touched on by several of your readers. We have a population bomb going off and unless we control our numbers by choice, the numbers will be reduced through increased weather flucuations, lack of natural resources, increased warring over limited space and resources and etc. The best example is Puerto Rico which has reduced its birth rate drastically in the last 20 years and now rivals that of the USA. When people across the globe realize that have children is both a joy to our world, but also a burden to it, they may start to realize that choice is the reasonable way...The phrase "God given right" is what got us in this mess!

Stuck on the road in ‘snow globe’ China

Better safe than sorry.
Pollution and Climate change is just part of the problem. The ozone layer is like a protection, and we dont have much protection.
