What a wonderful, miraculous sight this must have been for Iraquis and the soldiers currently serving in that area! The streets were silent? Perhaps Allah and God have joined together to bring a silence to the gunfire. If all the factions in Baghdad were equally touched by the sight of snowfall, they may find more things to agree on than to disagree about. There are few things as peaceful as the sound of snow falling or awakening in the morning to find you are surrounded by a coating of the fluffy white stuff.

It was amazing to witness. It brought delight to soldiers and Iraqis alike. In one of the toughest places to live in the world something so small brought a smile to everyone. The snow flakes were about 1/2 inch to and inch where I was at and it has been years since I last saw snow. It made my day to say the least.

It's amazing how something as simple as snow can bring joy to so many. I remember the amazement that I felt the first time I saw it snow. The wonder has never really worn off. I still look up, smile wide, and stick out my toung for the tasteless snowflakes as they fall silently. For just a few moments, the people of Baghdad were united in the joy that snow offers. It warms my heart and brings tears to my eyes to think that something so simple can bring peace to a region torn apart by war, even if only for a moment.

God laid a blessing across Bagdad this morning, no doubt about it. I do not like the snow, but it snowed here in my town one evening and the feeling that came with it was awsome. I know God sent this blessing to the Iraqi people as their plight has been long and hard. God wants them to know he is still there and watching over them. My son called this morning to tell us that it was snowing in Baquba, 35 miles north of Baghdad, and that after a 15-month deployment, his journey home would begin tomorrow. I remarked that if he and his fellow soldiers had ever thought they wouldn't get out of there till it was snowing in Hell...guess what?!? I wish they were all going to be on my boy's plane with him...

My son is in Baghdad, Iraq and I can just imagine what he felt and thought after waking up to the beautiful sight of snow. Being from Northern Indiana and stationed in Iraq since July, I truly believe he felt comfort and peace experiencing this absolute miracle, after thinking that he would not see snow again until he returned back to the states. I can't even imagine how the Iraqi people felt having never seen snow, and I pray every day for peace among the Iraqi's and the whole world! I believe all our prayers are being answered after seeing the joy in the faces of the Iraqi people that we never thought would happen anytime soon. It is truly a blessing that for one day, and for a short period of time - happinness is bestowed on the people (all nationalities) in Iraq - an area of our world that has seen too much disparity, trauma, and hate over the years and for far too long. As I pulled up this picture of the father smiling with his young child in his arms tears where flowing. This was truly a wonderful day for so many people. it's not a sign from above it's a sign of climate out of equilibrium, what brings joy now will bring pain later,snow falling in Iraq is a bad thing not good ,and global warming doesn't mean it's going to get warm everywhere (for those that don't know) mother earth is trying to tell you something PAY ATTENTION
