Oh, I love this... the president had difficulty maneuvering through all the checkpoints in the West Bank! Maybe he will really understand the truth of the Occupation, that Palestinians are being oppressed. They cant get to jobs, to school to even hospitals. This is the Truth of the situation. I just returned from the area, spending most of my time in the West Bank and I can assure everyone that the "Wall" is awful- 30 ft tall and yes, people are living in open-air prisons. The wall does not follow the agreed upon 1967 "Green Line", it TAKES Palestinian land and this is why so many Palestinians are unhappy. The Wall has been declared illegal under international law and so have the Settlements in the West Bank, which continue to expand on Palestinian land. The Palestinian people have suffered for 60 years, when they first became Refugees in 1948. Israel has suffered as well. Both sides have lost so much. Enough is enough, this needs to end. Pray for Peace for Israelis and Palestinians.

If George W is so committed to producing an Israeli-Palestinian peace treaty, why is this the first time in his nearly seven years as President that he has visited Israel? By 1998, Bill Clinton had visited Israel four times, and he wasn't able to broker a deal that could be maintained. GW needs to understand (as though he hasn't had enough evidence already) that he can't just swoop in, tell everyone what to do, and expect it all to work out. Has he learned absolutely nothing from his "diplomacy" in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and North Korea? I'm no fan of Bush either, I did not vote for him either time. And I agree that it is an attempt at saving the last shreds of what will be his terrible legacy--the Iraq war. But I choose to be more optimistic...everyone else here has totally written Bush off. After meeting people in Israel and the West Bank and seeing the situation on the ground- I have no choice but to be Optimistic and Hopeful for THEIR sakes! Yes, we are priviledged, we are Americans and can go anywhere we want and have freedom. These people dont. So, as dumb and inept that I may think Bush is...I wont let that cloud this issue. Things may be different this time- I think the Israelis and the Palestinians REALLY want Peace now. Now the trick is, can they all agree, will Bush really be able to help broker peace OR is it just a fantasy. I for one would like to BELIEVE that Peace is Possible! When the current Bush administration realized that the Arab controlled UN would not/could not hold Iraq accountable re weapons of mass destruction, they took the bull by the horns to enforce it. While President Bush's term has certainly been very unpopular let us not forget that he is a war president. And no war president has ever been popular for very long. There were even cries of disapproval as WWII dragged into 1945 and that was a war with clearly defined lines and objectives. Also, let us not forget that a true leader remains steadfast to the course while the ranks sometimes waiver. Thats why they are called leaders and the rest of us are followers. I think that real history, that which will be written long after most of us are gone from the earth, may single President Bush out as one of the true great leaders in the history of mankind. One that stood fast and faced the fire with impeccable integrity. One that stood fast while us the cool aid drinker spewed forth our discontent; oh my we are unpopular around the world, oh my the gas is to expensive, oh my we have killed inocent people, oh my can't we just stick our head in the sand and make it all go away. No we can't and we have nothing to be ashamed of as Americans. We did not become the most powerful civilization in the history of the world by worrying about the sensibilities of others or about being politically correct. We did it by working harder, sacrificing more and fighting more firece than any one before us. While predident Bush's term has certainly not yielded the most desirable results he is our leader and he has led with solid integrity. That is something his predecessor can not claim and I question whether anyone bidding for the job will be able to uphold. Be careful, historians may write of Bush much different than we suspect. There may come a time when the lights go out around the world again and we will be longing for a true leader.

The problem with Israel and its enemies, both far and near, is not political or military, it's religion. When the Palestians agree to let Israel build a new temple on the temple mount, then Israel will think about giving the Palestians some presence in Jerusalem. As long as Satan's hatred rules in the minds of men the love of God cannot rule their hearts.
If the Palestians stopped shooting, if the radical Islamic groups stopped murdering people, Israel, the USA, Europe and other civilized non-war-promoting countries would have peace, the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan could come home.
The peace that is being sought does not rest in Israel's hands, or in the hands of the moderate Palestians, or in the hands of outside countries.
Life is a lovely flower even when it blooms in the desert: If the fighting stopped today, sure some lives would still be hard but everyone could work together to improve everything.
Will it stop? No. Why? Because the hatred cultured in the hearts of terrorists who will blow up themselves and their own children, has them convinced that it can tear the heart out of everything that opposes it with bloody hands. Just a little more blood, just a little more murder, just a little more brutality and they will destroy Israel.
It's not going to happen folks. I read the back of the Book and that's not the way it goes. Isreal will stand and here enemies will pay a terrible price. Roll back past 9-11-2001; remember the A bombs in Japan and get a hold of your hearts, think about deaths by the millions in a day. Hell is going to break lose again and the nations who could prevent it are going to cause it, Iran and Syria.
There will be a World War III; we call it Armageddon and Israel even survives that.
Fairytale? Isaiah 17:1 (circa 715BC) "The burden of Damacus: "Behold Damacus is taken away from being a city and it shall be a ruinous heap." This has never happened to Damascus, but just watch.
The Persians (modern Iran) don't make it to fight in Armageddon either.
This from the same Book that says that one little city in all the world will be a stumblingblock for the peace of the world; that little city, Jerusalem. Isn't it strange that Jerusalem stand for "God's house of peace".
What lies ahead is not a line drawn in the sand, it's a hell of a lot worse than that.
Is Bush going to accomplish anything in this iniiative? He could turn the ball one more time as other accords have done, but there will be a seven year peace deal inked before too long but it will only last for half that.
There is not enough sand in the deserts to bury all the hatred Satan has for Israel and the Jews but just for so long. The Valley of Megiddo will flow with blood but Israel will survive.
People fairytales don't come true; prophecies come true. Turn off the buzz and hum of modern ideoligies for just a minute and consider the "why" of prophecy: "See, I have told you these things before they come to pass so when they do you might no longer be faithless but believing."

As usual, a US Pres turns to Israel-Palestine to attempt to 'close' his presidency on a high note. The most immediate solution is to undo the 1949 UN creation of Israel (how would you like it if someone took 1/5 of Texas and ceded it to Mexico, just because Mexicans occupied it?). Following this, revisit the borders by creating both an Palestinian and Israeli state within the region, and use UN to enforce border security until they get used to it. If Bush could orchestrate this, then he will have salvaged some (about 10%) of his legacy of international relations mishaps.

Some history for everyone - Bill Clinton and Ehud Barak offered a Palestinian state to Yasser Arafat in 2000 at the Paris Peace Conference, made up of 95% of the West Bank (later increased to 98%) . He rejected it on the grounds that the Palestinians demanded the right of return as well - meaning they didn't just want the West Bank, they want all of Israel. Arafat then launched a terror war against Israel, blowing up more than 1000 Israeli civilians (comparable to 60,000 Americans murdered based on relative sizes) over the next 4 years, and permanently and horribly maiming 5000 more (comparable to 300,000 Americans maimed). This after signing umpteen agreements that the Palestinian Authority would "crack down on terror", reduce incitement against Israel and Jews, and act in a responsible way. What were the results of the Oslo Peace Process, where we gave a terrorist control of a territory, i.e. the West Bank? It was the worst disaster ever to hit the MIddle East - under Arafat's sinister hand, it produced a radicalized Palestinian population, over half of which now can't wait to see their children blow themselves up on an Israeli bus; an educational system that teaches Jew hatred that Hitler would be proud of; and a media and clerical system that brainwash young people into believing that to be a shaheed, or martyr, is not just a privilege, but an obligation. During the Oslo disaster, Israel released thousands of Palestinian terrorist murderers from prison (who signed agreements to give up being terrorists!!), gave the Palestinians thousands of guns (for their ex-terrorist security forces!!), pulled out all their Wet Bank roadblocks, turned all security in the West Bank over to Arafat's henchmen - AND THE WORLD PUMPED OVER 8 BILLION DOLLARS INTO THE PALESTINIAN ECONOMY, WHICH ALL DISAPPEARED INTO ARAFAT'S POCKETS - and the result was a terror war against the civilians, women and children of Israel that would have destroyed the will of most countries to fight it. Arafat himself said that the Oslo was just a means by which to get Israel to disarm and drop their security. Israel can give up every concession imaginable to the Palestinians, but until the Palestinians decide their children are worth more to them alive than as human bombs bred to mass murder Jews in Israel, there will be no peace. The KKK will never coexist with blacks, and the Palestinians have yet to prove they are ready to give up their Oslo-bred fantasy of destroying the Jewish State.

P.S. The Arab states are all laughing at the west - the Arabs are the ones who created the refugee situation by declaring war on Israel in 1948 INSTEAD OF ACCEPTING A 2-STATE SOLUTION, kept the refugees penned in miserable conditions in refugee camps for decades without letting them become citizens of any Arab country except Jordan, trained them using ex-Nazis like Otto Skorzeny to form terror groups against Israel, and funneled tens of billions of dollars to the Palestinian terror groups over the last few decades, so they could wage a continuous terror war against Israel while the Arab states wait patiently and watch Israel slowly being bled by terror, and of course forced into suicidal political concessions by the west. The Arabs tried 4 times to destroy Israel through wars and failed - the Palestinians continue this effort, as the presence of a democratic state in their midst, and a Jewish state to boot, is just too much for the intolerant world of Islam to bear. AND NO ONE MENTIONS THEM AS THE CAUSE OF ANYTHING BECAUSE THE WORLD NEEDS THEIR OIL AND IS AFRAID TO TICK THEM OFF.

Bush is very brave. As a citizen of Israel, my family and I had to tolerate two rockets landing 15 minutes from our home a couple of days ago; welcoming presents for the President from Lebanon that could have killed innocent people. In the southern part of Israel, the rockets from Hamas haven't stopped entering Israel since Bush's arrival. Yet, he's trying to negotiate something in the midst of this terror. Americans who live in America need to understand that the US President, no matter how ridiculous his comments may sound, must be involved in at least trying to help the dreadful problems of the world; Americans do not live in isolation of the world's problems whether or not they are in Iraq. Every American is at risk of suffering from terrorists---people who do not care whether we or they die. Sadly, I'm not sure that most Americans understand the extent of US involvement in aiding both Israel AND the surrounding Arab countries with financial aid and weapons. Our US tax dollars (I'm also a tax paying American) are being used ALL over the world and we should demand that our President be involved and be visible ALL over the world. People just like you and me are being killed daily in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, and in Iraq. It would be horrific if the US just wrote a check or even worse, sent thousands of troops to deal with these situations without the President ever making an appearance. It's not wise to wait for the next 9/11 to move forward with trying to ensure world peace.

I did not vote for W. in either election, so you already know I do not have a lot of confidence in him...he probably cannot broker peace in the region, and I am not sure anyone can. People are dying, being tortured, oppressed and discounted all over the world, even here in what we like to think is the greatest country in the world...the only way it will ever stop is if we stop killing in the name of what we believe about books,"The Bible, the Koran....etc" When it comes right down to it, the world can no longer afford religion if humanity is to survive. The challenges that face the world today can only be repaired and progressed upon if we, as human beings begin to take repsonsibility for the choices we make rather than acting in the name of (God, Allah, or the Prophet Mohammed). It is too easy to inflict atrocities on other people when we do it in the name of something or someone that science has already proven does not exist. When we function in this manner, we can do anything to anyone, because we do not have to take responsibility for our actions and we goes as far as to justify them, and it is all becoming sickening. Really read "the good books", and know that they were written by mortal men, there is nothing on TV or in theaters today that can equal the violence and call to violence that you will find there. All of the "Holy Books" call people to kill each other for believing something different. The only paradise you will ever find is right here on earth, enjoy it, own your own life and get passed this barbaric thinking, and maybe we can manage to stop killing people.

I am someone who came to this country in 2001, In the future I believe that President Bush will be vindicated for his stand against Religious Exstremists and Tyranical regimes. I concede that to some people in this country it may not be evident now, but he has helped to relieve Afghanistan and Iraq of oppressive regimes and therefore the people of those countries have now a much brighter future. With Israel and Palestine if peace can be finally won then a long conflict will finally be over. I beleive that the majority of Jewish and Palestinians want lasting peace. Finally George Bush is not flashy and maybe he doesn't have a perfect command of the English language but he has substance and integrity. He has shown that he does not care about his own personal popularity because he has a belief that what he is doing is right. As they have already shown Osama Bin Laden and his followers would not even hesitate about setting off a nuclear explosion if they could. We have to hope that President Bushes successor has the character to maintain this battle against extremism in the world because it is in our own best interests and the best interests of the 99.9 % of the worlds population. The situation in Iraq has been very difficult but there has been progress and I believe that the world will see a stable democracy there. Throughout this conflict, President Bush has stayed firm in his resolve. Most, if not all of the candidates for the upcoming election have 'changed' their positions on this war in hope that their prospects of being elected would increase. I came to America because I liked the toughness and the compassion of the American psych. I am not a Liberal nor am I a hard line Republican. The President and his wife are a good 1st couple. They are not about flash but about substance and I respect that.

The Israel-Palestine thing is a red herring. Bush is trying to broker some kind of peace agreement that will allow him to start pulling out of Iraq. We don't have the troops to continue the conflict. All his talk about ending the occupation of Arabic lands is all part of his little scheme to withdraw without looking like we're running or giving up. If Bush cared about the Israel-Palestine problem, he'd have been dealing with it long ago instead of this impossibly late in his presidency. He's trying to get a foot in the door of negotiating a truce in Iraq that will enable us to pull out before we have to pack up in flee due to lack of interest on the part of the American people who are not exactly lining up outside recruiting stations. It won't work but he has nothing to lose by trying because his legacy isn't worth a crap anyway.
