I have to atleast ammend them for not killing them after they catch them. They are atleast taking them to a reserve. But I also agree with Eric Snohomish, it's from us HUMANS encroaching upon their habitat that is causing all the problems not the other way around. Maybe if they would take a step back and see where they are messing up, they could solve the problem. And NO, the answer is not to kill them, they aren't doing anything wrong, they are just trying to live in an environment that replaced their own. Poor monkeys!!

As for the monkeys, well, the Indians have a natural way to combat them with the langurs without compromising their code of ethics. It works very well here in the USA at our airports where we use hawks and falcons to scare off the other birds kicking it on the runway.

As far as I can tell, if people didn't feed or aggravate the monkeys there would be less of a problem. Not that there wouldn't be monkey over popluation in the cities (since humans do encroach on animal lands).
I don't see what's wrong with Hindu respecting monkeys. Hanuman is one of my favorite Hindu deities (Durga and Kali ranking above).

I had a friend who had a pet monkey in college. Kid with money and nothing better to do with it. The monkey would sit on top of his entertainment center and throw his poop at anyone unlucky enough to get him excited or scared. The monkey would actually store his poop in places around the top of the entertainment center, behind photos etc. So, whenever he got pissed up he went to his arsenal of monkey turds. He had to get rid of the monkey when the monkey became sexual. It got out of control. Reminds me of a lot of people. There is plenty of walking, talking(okay, barely), human proof of our DNA link to the monkey and other primates.

For all of the "poor monkey" comments, and the people cursing man for "overpopulation", if you are so concerned about overpopulation and how man is so horrible, would you volunteer yourself and your family for self extinction? You are part of the problem too my friend. You can leave earth any time you like. In fact, why don't you stop eating, driving, breathing, passing gas or reproducing?? I am so tired of all of these hypocritical environmental idiots. You should be ashamed of yourself for existing! My goodness, get off line would ya? You're leaving a carbon footprint!

Kind of reminiscent of the movie "Planet of the Apes". Though a study just came out pitting chimps against Duke University students on certain math activities and the chimps, Boxer and Feinstein, won the match. smile

This is a SERIOUS problem!!! I don't know why anyone is laughing. I mean those monkeys could cause serious damage. What happens when those monkeys break into Dell Computers outsourced Help Desk and chase all the workers off??? Who am I going to call when I need help with my Dell laptop now? My whole company works on Dell computers. This could shut us down if we don't have the Dell Help Desk support in India... This could affect the already slow American economy!
