How is it possible to say that you do not want war, yet you are announcing a "game" that kills people who are in the Israeli Millitary and causes huge amounts of collateral damage. I have to say that this article is pretty much blatantly one-sided. All it needs is some anti-semitic labeling of the Lebanese to round it off nicely.

I don't agree with the idea of violent games..it is a form of brainwashing, but how many violent games have been created in the U.S.? Probably the majority that exist. And who is often the 'enemy' in these games? Exactly, the Germans or Russians (WWII or Cold War). Well, I hate to break it to you, but the Israelis ARE the 'enemy' for most Lebanese. They're not really being bombed by Germans or Russians.

As far as displaying captured Israeli gear...that's human nature. How many troops came back from WWII with some kind of Nazi paraphernalia?

And FYI, for the Lebanese it WAS indiscriminate how Israel bombed the hell out of Lebanon's infrastructure all the way up to the airport in Beirut, even though the majority of Hezbollah is in the south.

Anyways, like I said, I don't think that the video game is a good idea, but then again, violent games are probably never a 'good' idea, no matter who's producing them. I don't normally comment on articles, but this one was just too biased. Articles like these just help to perpetuate stereotypes...

All of this conflict as you stated destroys the businesses and the people trying to make an honest living and no foreigners can even visit Beirut. Reliving such horrors of war cannot be good psychologically for anyone. Was the "Divine Victory" really a divine victory as the results are obviously showing throughout the region. As you stated the resulting factor of the war being that the "infrastructure is in tatters" is not exhibited in the video game. For those that don't understand the difference between this game and violent video games released in the United States, let me explain it to you. This was created and released by the party in power of a country. Games released here in the US are created and released by individuals and companies. This is equally as sick as the Columbine game, but that was roundly condemned by everyone in power in this country. This game was created by and is being praised by those in power in Lebanon. I cannot think of a real-life example, so I'll have to create one. Suppose the Japanese government, after the WWII surrender aboard the Missouri, promoted a game in which Japanese kids could kill American marines on various islands, and as part of the promotion for the game, displayed the guns and helmets of dead US servicemen. Would we have tolerated that? I'm surprised the Israelis didn't bomb the roll-out of the game as a fitting lesson of what happens when you mock someone who can kick your ass.

I'm American and have been living in southern Lebanon (mostly Hezbollah territory) since the end of the war last year, and I have a few observations after reading the comments above:

1. Hezbollah gets their political power by rehashing wrongs committed by the Israelis (and there is a very long list of wrongs....quite a few folks I've met talk about family members who were "martyred" by the Israelis...no surprise that the anger remains if your family or friend was killed by your neighbor over the border). The cross border raid that started the war last year was because of Lebanese prisoners the Israelis are still holding from their various incursions into Lebanon over the past 25 years. The Israelis still fly over the border seemingly every other day (everyone can see or hear the planes), and that just ticks people off (whether they are Christian, Shia or Sunni) and keeps the hostility on a low boil.

In Lebanon's fiendishly complicated politics, the two factions (Sunni/Christian alliance vs. Shia/Christian alliance) are competing, and Hezbollah is trying to use Israel as someone everyone can hate (easy to do given the history), unify the country, and gain power. So far it hasn't worked, given the mistrust and ruthlessness that exists between the factions.

2. A lot of the comments above are ignorant about Hezbollah. Yes, they are anti-Israeli militants, but they are not ignorant and should not be underestimated, as the Israelis found out in the 2006 war. The Lebanese are generally sophisticated (more than some of the folks writing the comments above), as most of the population have spent time elsewhere (Europe, Africa, America), and people from Hezbollah are more cosmopolitan than you might think.

3. People in southern Lebanon are generally anti-Israeli because of recent history, but don't have any natural enmity with the United States, beyond our government's seemingly endless support of Israel (what our natural interest is in always favoring the Israelis is a mystery). They are not terrorists who want to destroy America, so it's wrong to lump them in with Al Qaeda.

By the way, before someone starts labeling me a liberal or anti semitic or whatever, I'm an independent voter and I've spent time in Israel and have also been to Auschwitz, so I understand the issue from all sides. But I think that we in the United States are pretty confounded by the politics and culture of the Middle East, and we tend to blunder around and be led by lobbyists and interests that don't coincide with our own.

This is a biased and one sided story. It clearly points out the prejuduce and ignorance are blessed Americans are blessed with. Games are not the future and this is only a game that will only affect you if you play the game at a addictive level. Violent games such as Battlefield 2142, does it mean we must hate the EU since it is mentioned in it as fighting a world war with the Asians, I, don't think so.
We should think it as a game that is trying to get support and if players don't support then no problem.
