My heart breaks for these people caught in the middle, just wanting to live their lives. I am not blaming America at all by any means, I do believe we are trying to help and have their best interests in mind. I just wish there was something I could do to help all the innocents out there. Like a mission or something to help spread the love, bring some relief and peace. I know that is totally utopistic but I can't help it.

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

T. Its a nice getaway for all the wrong
they do in their daily chores. Its a license for them to again do something
wrong.Dont show kindness by giving a $25 for ok! a million family......go out
there...live their lives....and see if you can make a difference....u need
to be there to do it....just dont post it through a money order or by sending an army...... :) Thats not the way to help someone....or ru trying to show kindness....... :)

That guy who declined our hero`s food offerings, was may be afraid that
he may have to face repurcussions if someone sees him having an alliance with
a westerner. Quite possible!!! But it is also quite possible that it was a very
silent way of telling my hero `Please get the hell out of my country.
Nobody asked you to come to my country. We did not send a SOS to
UN to help us out. Because even though you are trying to help me,
the fact of the matter is it is an extra in your kitchen that i have to feed on..... a left over that you are trying to help me with...
if you are so concerned with ppl who live on $25 dollars only ..then respect that left over keep it for yourself and take it the next day....
dont give it just bcos you want to `help` bcos you have already have had ur share...and then may be thought ok i can now `help` a bit..... i would rather die of hunger..rather than be
fed on leftovers....... and yes you can laugh at me you can say ur poor ur dieing u have false dignity......i wont mind`.

There are birds who commit mass suicide. There are tribes who kill themselves
if they find themselves defeated. I think the terrorists are trying to achieve the same. They are killing
the people, they know is their own people,in at least they follow their own religion, just to keep their
dignities intact. I know i may be wrong, but its possible. It happens. The terrorists have an agenda to kill westerenrs, for religious beleifs. Such a feeling is wrong.
But right now in Iraq i feel they have a different agenda. I think they are just trying to protect their dignity by killing themselves. And yes Americans please feel
you have won. ` Please feel you have won Yes!! you have won....you are on top...you are the world`s best`....I am telling this from the core of my heart. I mean it.
Please do not suffer from low self esteem that you couldnot do anything for me, please bcos the more you do that.....the more danger i am put into!!!. you blame me when u leave the country. dont take it urself, bcos then again u wud feel
that u have not done enough and again come back......and again i have to feed on your left overs!!!!!!!!

Nobody wants `kindness`. Its wrong to give help. Live and let live.

I have a small word for all the Americans here. I have a bunch of dogs
here, i love them. One has got a tumour, one rabies, two have got skin disease,
the male one kills the puppies. But still i love them. They eat from the dustbin. But you know they are all happy.
They have their own families....yes true!!! mother father everythig. I only help them when the mother cant protect her puppies
from the rain. I know i could have done better for them. But what would it lead to, spaying them?......putting a collar around their necks,
make them watch some damn daily soap with me. No....I cant do that. Rather they bite each other..its better, and really if you see them closely they are not
really biting each other, they are actually playing. There is traffic jam when they cross the road. Everyone has to wait. they curse them. But still they are free...they have not lost their dignity. they just :)~ us when we curse them....lol.
and torn many shirts and pants of mine......i give them food only once in a while.

Dont worry this crank is not an American.... :) i just told this to assure you that no there are no dogs in america with a skin disease or rabies....dont worry... :)

I am not big enough to give you a single dollar!!!!!!!!nope i am not that great.

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

We do need a humanitarian effort there....at the
same time these people seem to have no respect for
life....execute an 11yr old girl???? That comes out to about $20 or so per day per person. Rather than spending it the we are now, why don't we load up some C130s with $100 (or $20s or whatever) and just fly over the countries and dump it out the rear hatch. This will stop the fighting as the whole population scrambles to collect it. Better yet-want to get rid of the opium fields?-- Dump it over the opium fields and watch the farmers cut it down to retrieve the cash. Do this periodically, and watch the level of violence go way down. Costs the same (or less) with no lives lost, and the money goes to the people who need it most and can use it best (not greedy contractors or Al-Q terrorists)

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

As an Egyptian-American Christian woman, I agree with the last statement about opening up the companies and giving people back their jobs. If we give money, it always ends up in the wrong hands. The people will never get it. I am beyond proud to be American and am very lucky to have lived in this country my entire life. However, the poverty in that region of the world, even without the war, is staggering. Children are literally starving to death. It has been worse since the war since people are not receiving their meager salaries. The comment about nothing will turn someone toward the enemy like a starving child, is completely true. If your child was starving, think about what you would do to feed your child. It breeds desperateness

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

I always wonder what a Middle East without islam would be like .Islam is their problem .Its islam that says they cant have infidels as friends, In islam you cant have dogs as pets , you cant go swimming except you wear a hijab or burqa , you cant have opposite sex friends, you cant even shake the opposite sex hands it goes on and on It limits your life so much that when the man wanted food from Americans islamic society was their to judge him most Americans are good natured and dont know the weight these people put on you Im sorry for them but on the other hand
this hand your dealt when you adopt this religion and government

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

Hi,The American Generals and high ranking officers are going to milk this cow as long as they can, It's all about money in the pocket. Wars are not easy, people suffered in WWI, WWII, Vietnam, the opression of Koreans under Japan and many other such wars. Out of conflicts we should grow closer and help each other. Where did we get this society if it doesn't hurt me, I don't care but I'll put my two cents in and it better count? I'm not over there in Iraq, but I bet there are some, maybe we don't hear about this much, are pulling together trying to make Iraq better. For those who want us to pull out when things are tough,- Maybe we should have turned our backs on Europe and said its not our War, too bad things are tough. Are you of this mind, I don't want to die for you, there is no benefit? Many people bite the hands that feed them, its when they are gone they have regrets. So in all, help the civilians even if you don't think they want you there. Give a fair and balance real jounalist report but remember our troops lives are on the line. Jobs? when hospitals and gov buildings are flattened. leave them their oil, bad message. Another divide for iraqi to argue, most say no to oil contracts, we are going to be there a while if George and friends insist on oil. Something they have been dealing with long before we invaded. Alqueda may or maynot as long as weare there they will definatley not. Mean time we also make others mistrust US and their own. Sad enemy's all around. There isother concerns but some demands to gage success end up creating discontent and a resistance to any hint of interferance from the out sider. Many of them believe US pick who they could vote for. With or own lost unaccontable billions, and it will never be perfect. Most of those iraqi left are not the upper classes, they are suffering, and various reasons old and new for resentment can only grow. Oil demands, military bases, gigantic embassy, how dose that look or sound good. Plus our world police reputation. Longer we stay the worse it looks, Bush said Korean model 50 yrs or?

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

According to the reporter Ali politely declined any food due to lack of tranportation. If his family was that much in desperate need he would have taken it no matter the distance. As Ali stated "And everyone is frightened of repercussions, especially if we get too friendly with the Americans." So whats the deal? You can earn a paycheck from the US just can get friendly? They are all ungrateful.

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

if i recall correctly you the journalist chose this profession and if ya cant handle the risk/heat/ get out while ya can!!!
ps ya cant save the world w/touchey feeley typos sometimes it requires force and compromise but not at
the risk of someones opinion not all reporters know what they are reporting let alone if its the right way or not!

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

And an even more dangerous and tough life for the soldiers that are there fighting and dying so Bush and Cheney can have control of 60% of the oil in Iraq.

Tough life for Iraqi journalists

After reading Abu's statement above it shows me the mindset of islam He would probably be the first to tkae your money. Woodinville, WA

I really think some of these ideas you all have are very interesting. I really don't think one thing is the answer, as it is a combination of things. If you realize the Iraqi people have been repressed for years, at least 30, what makes you think they can all of a sudden fight for themselves. We never should have simply disbanded their army to begin with, just the commanders loyal to Saddam. That way they would have been trained and had a way to make a living, so they wouldn't get frustrated and join the insurgents. I also get so disgusted with the media who want us to be against the war, by reporting only the bad things, but don't bother to tell us any of the really good things we have accomplished. We have tried to rebuild, but soon after, the insurgents come along and blow it all up. Yes, the regular people are getting tired of having nothing and living in fear all the time, but it is because they are being intimidated so much by the insurgents that they don't dare help themselves, and it is the old patterns they are falling into, because that is what Saddam did to them. It doesn't help when we mistakenly kill someone who is innocent either. That has done more harm to us than anything. My son has been in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and he was really frustrated when he came home from Iraq, because of the media and what they said about the war. I think now he is just frustrated at our inability to conquer the insurgents, because it is so hard to tell who they are. Yes, it is a mess, but somehow we have to get a handle on it for the sake of the whole world.
