The responsibility of media and leaders are to focus on good things and show examples of results of good human behavior. The repeated attempts from all sides will certainly help to bring peaceful atmosphere and happly living in all communities. It is better not to give more focus on power and politics but focus on social problems in the society and all over the world including poverty. Take the example of our own most powerful and greatest country in the world but still we have innumerable problems i.e. drugs, family relationships etc etc. Always say NO to war in any condition anywhere.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

I think what you did was a wonderful example of goodness in the world. I am sure that it has left an indelable mark on the family of Abu Sayed. May you both be blessed by this act of kindness all your lives!
Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

What a blessing! Originally these people were exiled from south of Egypt by Muslim persecution. The only job they could find is the pariah jobs in Cairo, trash collection and pig herding. In two movements, the government blocked their source of living 100%. Its very very sad and offensive that this couple would chose to help one of the very few Muslims who were harmed by pig culling, overseeing the other hundreds and maybe thousands of Christians who not only will suffer dire conditions, but also persecution at the hands of the lay Muslims and the Muslims government. Very sad indeed how superficial, hasty and ignorant benefactors can be.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

What a great story! On the other hand, it's comforting to know that my hard earned money, which is part of the billions sent to the Egyptian goverment annually, is going to a worthy cause like the senseless slaughtering of pigs and the destruction of family incomes.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

This is a Great Human Interest Story,..and puts a smile on my face. What a thoughtful, wonderful. compassionate deed they have done for Sayed & his family. So, this poor man gets punished for questioning misguided authority simply because he was concerned about providing for his family. We're all in this together here on Mother Earth. It's an amazing world that we live in to see a news story & then be able to actually quickly reach out across the globe to offer aid. Helping others, whether human or animal, fills the soul with love, both for the giver & the recipient. And we have to remember for the one's that say we need to take care of our people here in the US first. The poor people here would be considered rich compared to people in other countries. We here in the states are truly blessed and have so much more. "To whom much is given, much is required". We should have a grateful heart and be thankful we live in a country (as of now) were the opportunites are endless. You only limit yourself. Unfortunately we have people that expect others to take care of them instead of taking care of themselves. In our big government there are too many programs where people can get help. Other countries they aren't so lucky. We are all human beings, we should help those that need help no matter where they live in this world. God said, when you do for the least amongst you, you do for me.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

I wish network television news would spend more time on wonderful stories like these instead of violent tragedies. Don't judge the Zebians for doing what God laid on their hearts to do.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

"Goodwill is Love in Action".

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

We need more stories like this these days. Just to enlighten you there are both Christians and Muslims that live in Egpyt. I would venture to guess 100% of the pig farmers in Egypt (or any other predominaely Muslim countires) are Christian since Islam does not allow the eating of pigs/pork in their religion.

I just want people to understand that just because someone lives in a predominantly Muslim country it does not mean they are Muslim. Many Egyptian citizens are Coptic Orthodox Cristians, Catholic or Protestant.

I am all for people helping people regardless of creed/color/race but I just wanted the general public know that this is most likely a good Chirstian helping another good Christian - which in a predominantly Muslim country is rare.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

This is what this country should be about.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

THIS is the sort of thing that would foster WORLD PEACE,and we all KNOW we can't have THAT....RIGHT?????

GOOD LUCK TO BOTH FAMILIES!!!!!!!!!

GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

Sayed was not the ony farmer to lose his herd of pigs. You, too, can help one of these farmers! An organization called Heifer International helps farmers by giving them animals (goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, cows). Go to heifer.org -- and help ALL these farmers get a new start!

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

It is so good to see good news on the net for a change. An organization called Kiva.org allows you to join with others to make micro loans to people all over the world that are trying to make a living and support their families. You can choose a person or group after reading their story. You give whatever you want and your money is pooled with others until the requested amount has been reached. The receiver of the loan uses the money to expand their business or improve their farm. They have a certain number of months to pay the loans back and the repayment rate is amazing. You can then take your money back or loan again to someone else. This is a great project to involve your children in and will teach them a valuable life lesson. We are doing it as a team building exercise at work instead of birthday celebrations.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

This is a great story! We all share in life's struggles, its great to know brightly a light can shine with such a simple act.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

Why is it that a lot of these posts say things like "This is what Christianity is all about", and that they are doing "God's Work"? Nowhere in the article did it say anything about the Zebians being religious or that this act was inspired by religion. Is it not possible a person could want to help someome on their own accord? I think contributing this kind act to religion takes something away from it because it casts a possible shadow and possibility of selfishness on their intentions. Did they do it because they really wanted to help, because they think they should or else they might be punished by "God" when they die, or to save themselves from punishment? It's much easier to jump on the band wagon and claim a kind act like this in the name of religion, as apposed to something like all the people a serial killer kills because he can hear "God" telling him to do so in his head. I would like to think people do nice things just to do them, not because there might be something in it for themselves. These people may very well be religious, although nowhere in the article is that even hinted at, but I would like to think they did this for no other reason than it was a nice thing to do. These truly are kind and thoughtful people.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

HOW ABSOLUTLEY WONDERFUL, that these two kind hearted GIVING people showed a true act of Selflessness. It is in giving that you shall receive. It is only through GOD That we know what the true gift of love is. We are all capable of having it, if we look beyond ourselves. GHANDI SAID NATURE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR NEED NOT YOUR GREED. Another great one is "DO UNTO OTHERS, AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU" We hear so few of these stories. I know I FEEL GOOD WHEN I GIVE. We all have the power to do it. Isn't it about time that Humaity gets back to the basics and realize that is why God gave us each other. I was so moved by the people, their kindness, their luminosity. We bought several hundred dollars worth of supplies for a school we had just visited earlier in the day and then also bought a hospital bed for the clinic in another town we also loved.
I think one thing that makes it easier to donate either when you're actually in that country or directly to one family like this, is that it is so direct and immediate. There were no forms, or organizations or worry that only part of the donation actually went to what they needed right then. We gave it directly to the people and the entire thing went to exactly what they needed!
We make everything so complicated here and so many people want their part of the pie before it ever makes it to the needy!
The previous comment from Joe Smith, Vienna, VA, makes me wonder how much money has he donated to Katrina and Detroit, hmm? And how many volunteer hours has he spent helping disaster victims or the homeless in his own town?? I'm betting none!
There's a reason for the expression "Shut up or put up!" It's ALL good, don't judge someone else's donation or volunteering just DO IT YOURSELF!!

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

I just have to say that I'm very happy to see people giving from the kindness of their heart. And I am also very upset that this person:
Joe Smith, Vienna, Virginia (Sent Thursday, May 14, 2009 9:58 AM)

posted what I feel is arrogant. This good family helped someone from a calling of their heart, they did what they felt was right. I ask what have you done to help anyone in this world? I think you should travel and see what else is going on in the world besides just here. I agree there could be more done to help those here in the US but this world is large and we should think about all the nations then just ours and then all war would probably end. Go beyond what's right in front of you and reach out to as many possible. So in ending I just want to say what have you done to help those here and around the world?

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

A story like this gives you hope. No one nation or people are bad, just maybe not doing what we want them to do???

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

Hello All have to add one more thing, I am very proud of this couple that helped the Egyptian family. But I have to ask why do we always have to put religion into this? They did this because they wanted to help a family in need. Maybe they are Christian that's nice but I feel that too much is said about religion. Does this mean that you must be Christian to help others? But I believe this is just a good human being taking action to help another. You don't have to be religious or even believe in God to do this. We as humans are so detached from one another, and it's not just due to religious belief or politics. Even here, we walk pass one another without even a smile or a hello. If stranger were to strike up a conversation, our first thought is "hidden agenda". For those of you looking for a way to help - one of my favorite charities is Heifer International - www.heifer.org - which provides animals to poor farming families around the world. Those families in return are required to "pass on the gift" by giving some of the offspring of their animals to other families in need, multiplying the benefits to entire communities. The impact of even one animal is huge: one goat can supply a hungry familiy with several quarts of milk a day; extra milk can be sold or used to make cheese, yogurt, etc.

Americans make difference for poor Egyptian family

Wow! If the world would act like this then there wouldn't be any issues of the matter. BUT. It's "God" that makes people hate other people because of there personal beliefs. If i was not poor i would gladly share what I have with another human in need. THANK you to those who help others no matter what you claim made you do it. By donating a predetermined amount of money you can buy a cow and a bull for a starving family in Haiti, buy half a dozen chickens and a cock and you help a family in China feed themselves and sell the eggs to get ahead. Similarly, buy several goats and a family in Tanzania can feed and clothes themselves.
