First, I am a Christian woman and I believe that marriage should be between a man and woman. I also believe that individuals have a right to choose their lifestyle (even if I do not agree with it) and should not be persecuted for their choices. If you don't want to know my opinion (or at least respect my right to my own opinion), then I should not be asked. Some have talked about intolerance...is it only intolerance when I don't believe what you believe or agree with your opinion? If that is the case, why are you not intolerant of my beliefs? Tolerance should be for everyone, regardless of their thoughts, beliefs, opinion, etc. I agree that what is happening in Iraq is appalling and something should be done to stop it. I can't say that I agree that this is a United States problem when fanatical Muslims have practiced this for hundreds of years; they are taught this from a young age...we are not going to stop this behavior overnight. I can appreciate everyone's opinion, but do not agree with all of them. I can agree to disagree, but it does not make me intolerant. This is truly saddening and heart-wrenching But anyone who lumps Bush, or any conservative-minded person in with these Muslim extremists is sadly mistaken.

While I myself do hold to a traditional view of marriage (as well as other more 'conservative' beliefs), NOTHING in that belief system would EVER condone such horrific acts as what is being displayed here in Iraq, and other such awful acts done throughout history in the 'name of Christ' or other religions (i.e. - the Crusades, bombing of abortion clinics, etc.) Sadly, these are the other things that many people see when they see 'conservative Christianity' or any conservative viewpoints. But at least for myself, speaking for a Christian worldview, these actions could not be farther from the heart of my faith... and the heart of God!

I am truly saddened by this news... but please PLEASE don't lump all persons of faith into the same category as these extreme individuals.

I believe the Christian (true Christians) are tolerant of the Gay lifestyle.

We are commanded to love one another and that includes people who are Gay. We can love you and tell you that we don't condone you choice of orientation or accept your lifestyle.

So you see, true Christians (and there are false Christians in case you didn't know) - believe and are commanded to love you - not to hate, not to bring violence upon you.

SO I challenge every Gay or Lesbian, please, if a purported Christian is challenging you in some way about your chosen lifestyle - ask him or her about their chosen faith and their commandment to love - If their response is that "they must love one another" then ask them about Christ. We are all God's children.

As far as the Muslims or the Jews go - I cannot speak for them, nor do I condone the actions reported on - but I understand where they come from - They don't believe in Christ. Try the Reconstructionist Christian Movement in the U.S. and see what you come up with. 1. It is indeed horrible.
2. Well besides fighting insurgents, rebuilding an entire country, and 5000+ other things I am sure they're trying to encourage the local police which investigate murders under THEIR [not OUR]laws.

It really isn't much different in this country. When we have to pass laws to protect homosexuals and they barely pass. When we are persecuted by the religious fanatics in the name of God. When our former leader would deny the rights of his own child. We live in an a society the perpetrates fear against anyone who is different, fear creates violence and all too often that violence goes unreported and unprosecuted.
