This epidemic disease can be any where in the world. But I think, science, technology and the cooporations between different countries will be able to isolate the disease. People will get sick and they will be cured, the question is your story touches the hearts of many people all over the world, and they will react to it. With our internet technology and the available communication facilities, individuals through out the world can talk to each other and exchange their feeling. So governmnets can not hide any thing like this any more, any where in the world. In a sense the world has become a one community and epedemic illness like H1N1 needs attention from every one. I thank and salut reporters like you who travel among the community of the word to report breaking news, facts and truth as they see it from their naked eyes every minutes of the day !!!

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

This is the exact reason why the border should be closed and remain closed!

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

I am curious as to where the media is getting their numbers, according to the WHO site as of yesterday:

The United States Government has reported 64 laboratory confirmed human cases, with no deaths. As long as the media can engender an environment of fear, whether from "terrorists" or from a new strain of virus, as long as it's a source of fear that people can't readily understand they'll huddle in the corner and allow anything the government wants. everyone is getting scared about this new virus but they're forgetting the numbers- it doesn't appear to be any more deadly than any other strain of influenza virus. In fact, as near as I can tell, it seems LESS so, given the number of infections versus the number of deaths attributed to it, and if you look up between different newspapers, news channels, and news sites you'll notice a distinct pattern that the same sources that were strongest on playing up the threat that terrorism meant to US citizens are the same ones that are now hyping the swine flu for all it's worth. Wake up, you're being manipulated. The last administration controlled through fear of terrorism, this one already has a nervous herd that are ready to toe the line for the government who "protects" them. All this administration has to do is declare a phase 6 pandemic, isolate everyone in their homes, and the country is paralyzed while the domestic takeover occurs. All dissidents are quietly removed from their homes, declared dead through the "epidemic" and all that remains are the frightened sheep who do anything they're told.

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

I'm still wondering why this seems to come as a surprise to people. I say this because we should think about the present state of our environment and our future. We only have one Earth and human behavior is destroying it. We all know that the human population is growing unimpeded at an uncontrollable rate, rivers are becoming depleted, we hear about snow caps and ice glaciers melting at rates we have never seen before, we hear about global warming, we hear warnings about not having enough food to feed the coming generations, we hear about destruction of the forests, polluting and over fishing of the seas, we hear about the destruction to animal habitats bringing hundreds of species to or at extinction. What more do we need as proof that we are in danger of losing it all? Well my point is that a pandemic where millions die may actually be benefical and could possibly save the human race. I know this sounds like a horrible thought to some but what do you think?

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

'This is the exact reason why the border should be closed and remain closed!'

Marie, the majority of the US cases were brought in legally by Americans. Life is not so simple and hasn't been since the Europeans came to the new world and killed off the indigenous peoples of the new world. I don't blame those settlers. They were ignorant of what they were doing. However, it is an illustration of how stupid and simplistic is the statement: "close the boarder."
I just spent 15 days working with some people who came in from Italy. They went to the airport dreading the questions and inspections they would have to face upon returning home from the USA where the flu was spreading from California. No worse, no better. People die of the flu EVERY DAY in this country, young and old. The media is simply out of control with the hype and the fear mongering. All indications are that this new flu might actually be milder than the regular influenza serotypes. To the people in the media QUIT IT, YOU ARE NOT HELPING! What might only be a slight illness in you could kill those of us with compromised immune systems. I just pray it's over sooner rather than later.

I also think if things get worse maybe we need to consider closing down all schools early to help prevent the spread among our children. With the internet and other sources there is no reason our children can't learn outside of the "typical" classroom. I've had to homeschool my daughter twice in the last 1 1/2 years due to my condition and we've done just fine. You do what you have to do. God Bless all and my prayers are with you.

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

Marie, I think that you are totally correct. The government does not always tell the truth about catastrophe to deter hysteria. Even body counts during war are being miscounted by the government. The media at the most tell the truth in regards to deaths, stories, etc. Most people should know about this.

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

Eat raw ginger and garlic to improve the immune system for fighting with flu.

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

I feel sorry for the whole world. It may be that there have been a higher percentage of apparent deaths from this epidemic in Mexico than in the U.S. because of the prevalence of other pathogens in the environment where those people died, and/or the lack of prompt treatment for the early sufferers of the disease.

Incidentally, due to inadequate and broken down sewage disposal systems, one of the common pollutants in the air of Mexico is dried fecal matter. Definitely not a place to be when you're unusually susceptible to infection!

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

My heart goes out to the Mexican people. I hope this pandemic will end soon. They have enough troubles to deal with the drug war. They didn't need this.

In Mexico, ‘We can't touch her anymore’

The funny thing about the US media is that they are missing stories right in our own borders. I live in Texas in a small town between New Braunfels and San Antonio. At least one confirmed case has been found here. Both of our scholl district (14,00 kids), private schools, and most day care centers, have been closed for two weeks. The number one waterpark in the US will close this weekend. I picked her up yesterday from school and the it smell of disenfectant. This morning it smelled of disenfectant. Now I feel sick from the smell of disenfectant. I have asthma.
