Unlikely blogger - Ahmadinejad

He might not be the first person that comes to mind when you think of the blogosphere – but Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has his own blog. And surprisingly, it’s a somewhat open forum.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
VIDEO: An unlikely blogger

While the president writes fairly infrequently, his posts are less confrontational than his usual speeches and the comments are both scathing and supportive.

It's interesting that Bush couldn't talk this freely with people in the land of the so called free.
He reminds me of a mouse
I liked reading Ahmadinejad's Message to America. After seeing this man smeared in American media when he came to visit our country, it was refreshing to see his perspective on global politics. I think he raises some quality points on the illegitimacy of on-going US foreign policy in Israel and now in Iraq. When you look at what the US has accomplished in the Middle East since 9/11, it's pretty pitiful and even embarrassing what has been done.

Even if President Bush had a blog, I wouldn't read it because it's real authors would undoubtedly be his speech-writers. There's no way to tell whether Amadinejad's entries in his blog aren't drawn up by someone else too, though they appear to be in his own words.
The web is just another communications venue for tyrants to prey on the minds of the gullible.
Greg Thies you Sir are naive beyond words...
It's a ploy of ahmad's to put on this smiley face and be the people person, unfortunately because of his hatred of Israel I can't trust him.On the other hand when our admin lies about WMD's etc it put's in the the same playing field as ahmad. Scary thought... The president should have met with him when he came to NY, they might actually become friends....
I'm amazed by Americans who acept this RattleSnake for anything but the truth. Of coarse most people don't know the truth anyway. If you think this guy is for real, Ask US citizens from Iranian Embassy hostage when Jimmy was President. This guy was one of the terrorist group.
His blog is another example of how he tries to trick his own populace and world opinion into thinking he's a moderate man, rather than the radical with a hidden agenda that he is. The sad thing is, other comments on this very blog verify that he is successful.
The man is a master of misdirection- when he does not like where a discussion is going, he changes the subject to something unrelated, like to something the US may or may not have done. All of the fools who buy into what he says, there are two things to consider: 1. the blog very easily can be scripted, with a hint of dissent written in to seem real; 2. words are easy to say, meaning that it's easy to lie and tell people what they want to hear and Ahmadinejad has no problem with that.
Good stuff - communication with all peoples and cultures is what the world wants and needs for all of us to function together.
I think its important to remember what kind of man we are dealing with, even if his comments appear to be candid on his blog. Ahmadinejad is an extremist with little respect for humanity, he is a holocaust denier, and his answer to a question about Iran's treatment of homosexuals at a speech at Columbia University is very instructive.. according to him, there arent any. Not to mention he has been arming fighters in Iraq that have been killing our soldiers. Perhaps we should save the praise for his candid blog comments for someone who deserves them.
Greg Ahmadinejad is in power due to his involvement in kidnapping US citizens in 1979. You'll listen to him but not our president hmmmmmmm where do your loyalities lie?
why dont you move over there then communist brain
I see a person who shows peace with a fake smile as in you believe me don't you?
I wouldn't read a blog from Mr.bush no matter what he says. You cannot believe a word of it. And speaking of free speech, Mr. bush won't even let a person access one of his speeches unless you sware that you do not disagree with his point of view! bush is like an imperial dictator.
I was so mad when the neo con right wing war mongers tried to stop him from speaking at Columbia.  They were afraid of what he would say.  That's because Bush has been trying to lie us into another war.  Same with Hugo Chavez.  He probably isn't as bad as Bush makes him out to be.  But because Venesuela doesn't bow to us, we want to overthrow him?

Take a look at PNAC.  Project for the Next American Century.  The GOP feels we need to take over the middle east in order to stay important.  Scary stuff.  How about instead we start manufacturing and selling our products around the world?

PNAC is for Bush, Chaney, Delay, Abramoff, Rove, Rumsfeld to get rich.  It does not help America or the American citizens.

Also take a look at Desaster Capitalism.  That is what Bush is doing.
On a Bush blog -- actions speak louder than words -- and Bush would have to overcome his actions of: Misleading Americans (Yellow Cake), Lying to Americans (valery plame, wiretapping, torture), Invading a sovergn Nation, Misleading Americans (Iran is persuing Nuclear Weapons) --- The list goes on and on. I feel no amount of blogging on Bush's part could ever convince anyone he is anything other than a lying criminal.. Iran's leader on the other hand gets a pass for his writings until HIS actions contradict his words.
I really dont believe that he himself writes it. I imagine that his staff write out for him. Goverment leaders dont often take time. Many average joes dont have the time to write a blog. Much less a president of a corrupt nation.
I find it amazing that anyone would give any credence to what he has to say.  He is a holocaust denier, most likely pushing for nuclear weapons, his society allows the public stoning on it population and was deeply involved in the hostage taking of our embassy.  He also supplies weapons to Iraq insurgents.  I would not be permitted to write this if I lived in Iran, I will however fight to the death for his right to say what he wants.
OMG I cant believe someone else thinks he looks like a mouse too. I always say that. Actually Ahmadinajad and President Bush look alike. They both have big ears and a goofy smile.
Why does he always look like he wasted on hashish??
This man is pure EVIL! Don't let his charm fool you. If you believe anything that he says you need to go to Germany and visit some of the Holocast Memorials and speak to the survivors of the Nazi Campaign. This man plans a repeat of the Holocast only this time he wants to destroy all of the Jews.
Could you imagine if W had a blog?  That would be incredobowl.
I am very patriotic and I back my country 100%. However, that doesn't mean I am ignorant to other governmental beliefs. Every country, and their leader, has a dark moments, including our own. As U.S. citizens, who live in a supposed free democracy, we need to recognize all of the dark things that we are creating for our own benefit. Instead of spending billions of tax dollars on fighting other countries (just because they believe in different things than us) and spend it on feeding the million of hungry children in the World. Imagine how good we would look to the World, including the muslim community, if we spent the bilions on relief instead.

I read Ahmadinejad's blogs, and though I might not agree with everything he says, I respect his valid opinion and I understand why he feels this way against the Western World.

Please stop all hate and bring our troops home. In the ideal World, our troops would be used for humanitarian relief.
Why don't you all go over to Iran and see if you will have any of the freedoms you have here in the U.S. If the so called leader of Iran has time to sit down and Blog then something is wrong. I'm sure that his speech writers are doing this for him. Bush may not be the best president we've had but at least we haven't been attacked again. I wonder sometimes about a lot of people that live here.
Who cares?  Who would trust anything he says after he admitted that lying was okay as long as it protects his interests?  We need to get him next. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him!
I agree with you Mr. John A, with our communist-nazi news network that hates to refer to "Mr. Bush" as "President Bush" while working overtime digging up so much dirt on him, and broadcasting it to the enemies of the US just to humiliate him, no wonder President Bush doesn't bother... Hmm, who's the oppressed?

Mr. Greg, it appears that you have a problem with prosperity. Thank God the likes of you weren't around during WWII...
I find it both surprising and informative that he permits not only dissenting, but even rude comments to be posted seemingly without censoring.  I realize this is a forum to show the world, and not simply a reflection of true Iranian life, but I find it refreshing nonetheless.
what a bunch of socialist idiots saying they like reading what this dangerous terrorist has to say. President Bush has accomplished alot since 9/11 like NO MORE ATTACKS ON US SOIL, BY TAKING THE BATTLE TO THEM OVER THERE IN CRAZY MUSLIM LAND!!!
Wake up people, or move out!!
These other posters are nuts. How can they not see this evil man and this obvious propaganda for what it is? The problem is that they judge people and countries by their words (which they twist when convenient) and not by their actions. Bush has spent billions doing nothing but rebuilding Iraq. Amedinejad has done nothing but lie about his nuclear ambitions and deny everything from the existence of homosexuality in Iran to the holocaust. This is the same man who gives speeches about how Iran will bend America to her will (does Bush make such speeches?). This is the same man who captured and held Americans yet these people continue to treat him like he is rational. Get a clue.

and try to get these countries to stop
IT FIGURES THAT THIS IS THE ONLY COMMENTS NBC WOULD SHOW.....USA HATERS!!
I am reminded of a rat every time his face flashes by!
He does look like a mouse.
Well, I imagine that it would be pretty easy to authenticate GW in a blog. He'd be the guy ranting about the 'nucular' threat posed by Iran/Iraq.
Your a dam fool. This guy is a lunatic. Of course hes going to denonce what has been done because its against him!! Ughh you stupid people. This guy is a tyrant!! Wake up!!!!!!!!!!
News to be useful must be unbiased and include facts and different perspectives on important issues. Here in the USA to much of the media is completely biased to the point it borders on propaganda.
If the internet is not shut down and remains a completely free information portal, it will revive a free press in the United States and help our democracy by informing the voters who elect our leaders of the real facts and others viewpoints.
Greg how can it appear that his blog is in his own words?  You just sound like a Bush basher and a terrorist.
Greg, how would you know that Ahmadinejad's entries "appear to be in his own words"?  The guy's a terrorist tool.
You have the capacity to be a positive world force - a voice of dissent amidst the rapidly-engulfing US doctrine of imperialism through economic globalization and military oppression. However, your radical stance on issues such as Israel, as well as you persistence in advancing your nuclear program discredit you. You would be wise to become a student of history, to realize that change can only be long-lasting if achieved through non-violent means - by gaining the trust and belief of the average, unbiased, and liberal citizen. In this way, you touch humanity's soul, and the process is irreversible.
Why am I a terrorist tool because I listen to the guy's point of view? I know he doesn't believe gays exist and he denies that the halocaust happened. I'm not saying I like the guy, I'm saying I liked reading about WHY he is the way he is. The man lives and breathes the Islamic religion. Extremist? Maybe, but like someone else pointed out, until his actions go against his words, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Bush's actions are so convuluted I don't even believe a word that comes out of his mouth. You guys criticize Mujadinejad for being a liar while our own president lied his a$$ off to get us into Iraq in the first place! Does Bush even recognize the gay population in this country? Has Bush ever stood up to say anything about the Holocaust?

What's wrong with being a Bush Basher? I'm ready for this loser to get out of office so maybe we can get our country out of debt, out of Iraq and settle our problems diplomatically instead of trying to be the world police.
For those of you who want to label me a naive terrorist Bush Basher just remember there's a difference between reading some guy's blog and actually buying into what he says. I think some of you take these blogs a little too seriously. All I wanted to convey was that I think it's good to have Iran step up and put their national views in an open forum online, not that I support Iran's president. I'm not too surprised at some of the hateful response I received here after saying I would read an Iranian blog over an American one, though. It's become a typical American response from people who want to lash out at anyone with a different point of view than their own.

For those of you who think America is over in Iraq preventing terrorists from attacking American soil, you're forgetting all the money we pay our intelligence agencies that actually do prevent terrorist attacks in our nation in some sick attempt at honoring the troops that are fighting and dying over in Iraq right now. Just because we're fighting on someone else's soil instead of our own doesn't mean we are fighting the people who have the means to attack American civilians again. The point of view that fighting THERE is better than HERE shows a hell of a lot of disrespect to the people that live in Afghanistan and Iraq. Some say we are "helping" these people, but in reality all we're doing is getting them killed as collatteral damage, getting Americans killed by sending them to fight an undefined enemy and trying to prove to the world that we can impose our own government on a completely foreign country. It hasn't worked in the past, why will it work now?

Even more interesting is how terrorism grows. One of the big reasons the insurgency is getting worse in Iraq is because of people who grow up hating Americans because they killed their Dad or their Brother or because western culture has somehow wronged them in their eyes. Is War the solution to that problem? I think not. As long as we keep trying to solve violence with violence we're doomed to kill ourselves.
Shame on our government for not even agreeing to a purposeful dialog with Ahmadinejad or others in Iran. Because of this stance I can only conclude that the neocon advisers want war with Iran and anything so civilized as relations with a country would humanize them and make them more difficult to bomb. Those that love Israel should push for a dialog because any war with Iran would ironically hurt Israel the most. Besides even if those WMDs were there (and it turns out they weren't AGAIN) we could not suddenly magically cleanse all 636,372 square miles of buried WMD in Iran! How stupid does our government think we are? Please don't involve our beautiful country in some ridiculous bloody Armageddon that was avoidable if we would tone down the media propagandizing and demonizing. Ahmadinejad is no saint but neither are our leaders.
