Mideast conflict becomes mano a mano battle

I recently wrote about a new video game that gives ordinary Israelis and Palestinians the chance to play the role of peace-maker from the luxury of their own personal computers.

But just as the game, and reality at the Annapolis Mideast peace summit show, bringing peace to the Middle East is no easy task.

An incredible piece of video, recently released by the Israeli Army, shows how in the volatile ground shared by Israelis and Palestinians – high tech often meets low tech in basic battles for survival.

VIDEO: Israeli drone video of Gaza gun battle

High tech becomes low tech
What you’re looking at are thermal images taken from an Israeli unmanned drone flying high above on the night of July 21. Two figures catch the eye of the drone operator sitting in a comfortable office far away. The figures are identified as Palestinian gunmen approaching the fence separating the Gaza Strip from Israel. The two gunmen move slowly among the bushes.

An Israeli unit is dispatched on a mission of interception, and you can see clearly that both sides are moving very slowly heading toward a collision.

The Palestinian gunman realizes that the Israeli forces are a few feet away and opens fire. A gun battle erupts. The black dots flying everywhere are the hot rifle shells. At this point one Palestinian gunman lies dead.

The explosion you see on the top right side is a grenade that was thrown by the second Palestinian gunman. The grenade explodes and doesn’t injure any Israeli soldier.

One of the Israeli officers is roughly five feet from the surviving gunman and he decides to charge; but he makes a crucial mistake and doesn’t remember to change his empty cartridge.

This is where low tech meets high tech.

With all the armored gear both sides have – night vision goggles, automatic rifles, grenades, and a sophisticated remote controlled drone in the air – what the Israeli officer is left with is wrestling the Palestinian to the ground with his bare hands.

You can see the officer standing up and running towards the Palestinian, but with no shells flying, he reaches the Palestinian and they are left tied up in a bundle, each fighting for his life.

The Palestinian pulls out another grenade and the Israeli manages to turn the Palestinian in the direction of the explosion, which kills the Palestinian, and leaves the Israeli officer only slightly wounded.

This piece of video is just a small and short testimony to the reality both sides face in this conflict, which occurs daily on the Israeli and Palestinian Gaza border.

I am a non-Jew who, for profesional reasons, has lived for short periods in several Islamic countries, from 1984 to 1990. I have also had two short, but eye-opening, visits to Israel in that same timeframe. So, I am speaking from personal experience... what I saw with my own eyes.

The fine, noble, sensitive, very intelligent Israelis are fighting for their very survival. This tiny nation is surrounded by non-negotiating, hostile nations that have evolved truly evil cultures, shot through with people utterly devoid of scruples, seized with hatred and capable of unspeakable distruction.

I'm told there's two million Moslems here in the USA. I believe that nearly all have no allegence to anything except this terrifying, dangerous religion/sect.   That should be worrisome to all loyal Americans.

The Diaspora (removal of the Jews from Israel) happened in the first century AD, not 2500 years ago.  It was done by the Roman Empire; there were no Muslims then.
Muhammad wasn't borne until around 570AD.

The cold war continued until the Gulf War.  When the Coalition thoroughly embarrassed Saddam and the Soviet weapons and tactics he was using, the people of the USSR started really questioning why they were enduring a lousy standard of living to support a military that was inferior.  THAT led to the collapse of the USSR.

Sherman was right; war IS hell.  The problem is that there are people in this world that want power more than they value life.  A Saddam, a Stalin, a Mao can destroy the lives of millions in the name of some "ideal", or simply because he controls the people that control the guns.  Marx was an idealist, basing his system on the inherent goodness of man.  More citizens of the countries controlled by Marxist governments have died at the orders of their leaders during times of "peace"   than died in World War 2, the worst war in human history.

As long as you are dealing with humans, this will continue.  A Roman leader said if you want peace, prepare for war.  Things don't change.
As the video started, I was at first taken back to my days of playing a PC squad-based shooter game.  It was so cool to be airdropped into a volatile zone to defend a friendly tank while covering the area to take out enemy troops and tanks.  By the end of the video, it wasn't so cool anymore.
Could you imagine the impact on the world if we all moved to where we were really from? Asia and Africa would be overwhelmed. We are ALL not from where we say we are or think we are from. We all migrated from somewhere. Even the Native Americans are not truley from North America. Their ancestory is Asian. So, back to what is going on here. They both lay claim to the same land. Both because of religion. Why can't they just sit down and work it out. Are we not past all of this conquering crap? Grow up and get out of the age of destroying each other. Islam. Grow up out of the 600's and treat your people with respect. Maybe you will get some in return. Everything is too against your honor. A woman gets raped and she gets the blame. Where does that come from?
