Iran's role?

There's very little more serious than accusations that another country's government is arranging the killing of American soldiers. But now the U.S. says it didn't mean it.

On Sunday, a senior U.S. military intelligence analyst told the world's media at a long-awaited briefing about accusations that the most lethal roadside bombs in Iraq could be traced back to "the highest levels" of the Iranian government. Today, the U.S. military spokesman told the same reporters that wasn't what they meant to imply.

And President Bush, asked at his first news conference of the year about the apparent contradiction, said they didn't know how far up the orders went and that it didn't really matter.

When asked what assurance he can give Americans that the intelligence is accurate, Bush replied, "What we do know is that the Quds Force was instrumental in providing these deadly IEDs to networks inside of Iraq. We know that.

"And we also know that the Quds Force is a part of the Iranian government. That’s a known. What we don’t know is whether or not the head leaders of Iran ordered the Quds Force to do what they did.

"But here’s my point: Either they knew or didn’t know. And what matters is that they’re there."

The Quds (Jerusalem) force is an elite group of Iran's Republican Guard.

Detailed accusations
U.S. officials, who insisted on remaining anonymous, on Sunday detailed accusations that the deadliest kind of roadside bomb, EFP's - Explosively Formed Penetrators -- were being manufactured in Iran and smuggled across the border to Shiite extremist groups to use against U.S. soldiers.

The intelligence analyst, an Iran expert, said the "highest levels" of the Iranian government would have known of those actions. But that was Sunday.

On Tuesday, General Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, disputed that assertion. "That does not translate to that the Iranian government per se, for sure, is directly involved in doing this," he said.

Earlier Wednesday in Baghdad, another military official weighed in.

"There is no intent to make any inferences or assertions," Major General William Caldwell said. He said the point of the briefing Sunday was to highlight the increased threat to U.S. soldiers from weapons coming from Iran. He said they had decided to go public after exhausting other, less direct means of asking Iran not to allow the manufacture and smuggling of the bombs.

It was another statement from Bush though that had many people wondering what will come next.

"My job is to protect our troops. And when we find devices that are in that country that are hurting our troops, we're going to do something about it, pure and simple."

Not quite that simple.

Ahmadinejad, Bush, Cheney and Rice are all a bunch of liers living in their own little psycotic world they made up in their warped little minds. How can anyone in their right mind believe anything they say?
it's clear that george bush just does not like the american people. yes, he loves american business and powerbrokers, but he has contempt for the average american citizen. he talks down to us in the same language the kings and emporers of history did. he and his neocon cohorts feels that we are weak, stupid and ignorant. and you know what, he's right, because over 50 percent of us elected this him to office AGAIN. "fool us once, shame on you, fool us twice... ummm... " nevermind, you get the picture. WE'RE the fools and i truly believe that Bush and Cheney laughs at our culpability. it's a sad sad state of affairs in this country and i'm ashamed to be an American.
an iranian military outfit that calls itself the quds(jerusalem) force-the name speaks volumes for the ultimate direction iran is headed into if they are allowed to succeed in driving out usa forces in iraq.the focal point of biblical prophecy is jerusalem/israel and then the nations that involve themselves with her.the prophecy of zechariah 12 in which G-D says that all the nations are going to severly wound themselves by gathering together against jerusalem just before Messiah comes looks like it is underway.
George Bush and Dick Cheney are probably the most dangerous men in the world today. They are fanatic ideologues whose insanity can only be measured by how much they really believe the paranoid fantasies they spout. It is amazing to me how a few bad actors in positions of power can change the world for the worse. Bush will go down in history (if there will be anyone around to write it) as belonging to the same lunatic gang as Hitler and Tojo. He will be remembered not as President but simply as Bush, that single name serving to identify the man whose lies and delusions of leadership led our nation into one of its greatest disasters.
Time to go! IMPEACH now! This is getting out of hand folks. For him to say he is doing to do what he wants without the approval of the Congress or Senate is crazy. Sounds like a DICTATOR to me!
It is clear after his startling behavior at the news conference that President Bush should be removed from office as quickly as posible by the constituional means still available to our representatives. His stuborn intransegence has blinded him and a blind "captain" is worse than useless. It is my hope that Administration staff begin to resign in protest to increase the pressure on this unfortunate man. I can't help but feel sorry for his parents. It would be so hard to watch a child who has had every advantage fail so miserably. Go home George, the brush needs cut and the pond has just been stocked with bass. Go home.
Simply put Bush is a liar, conflict (war) fanatic, insensitive, inflexible and pays no attention to anything but the little voices in his small, highly egotistical mind.
Why president Bush is blaming Iran on his own failure in Iraq war? The only way to bring peace between Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq, president Bush must remove its troops from Iraq, then there will be peace. Iraqi people does not agree that their country has occupied by foreign country for their selfish reason. United States Image has gone doun in the entire world since we invaded Iraq without any reason.!!!
Bush should be impeached. Everything he says and does it with an advertising spin to it. The media needs to do its job of providing the public with real information and just Bush's spin doctors word. The media needs to get real valid and confirmed information what ever way possible. The public has a right to know. I doubt many Americans would support Bush if they had better information. Why can't the public get the real truth?? The american public needs to revolt against this bull sh@t. When will it end? Get our troops out of Iraq now before more die for lies that Bush and his team spin daily. The other thing Bush and company like to do is get the public to take their eye off the ball by getting the public to focus of some imaginary issue/problem that Bush and company say is important. Many businesses do not spend as much on advertising as Bush and company do. Now all Bush and company are doing is riding out their terms and leaving this mess to be cleaned up by the next administration.
It seems to me Bush is laying the groung work for action against Iran. I think that is good because they probably sent the WMDs to Iraq as well. Just another chapter in the Bush run at oil domination for his buddies at Mobil Oil.
What's wrong with Iran providing weapons to the rebels in Iraq? The USA provided weapons and training to the rebels in Afghanistan in the 1980's. That resulted in Osama Bin Laden, pissed at seeing his countrymen being manipulated by foreign powers, to strike at the manipulators on 9/11/2001. If we just wait 20 years, this will all backfire on Iran!
There's one thing thaat is not in doubt and it's NBC's role along with the rest of the MSM in undermining America's war on terrorism. To think that NBC and some of the other surrender monkeys writing on this forum would take Iran's side against America is dispicable. How can there be any doubt that Iran is involved in terrorism? They have admitted it many times. Arraf is just a Iranian shill hired by NBC to help spread it's coverage world wide by denigrating America. We should have bomb Iran when they attacked us in 1979.
Iran has the blood of hundreds of Americans on their hands, starting with the marine barracks bombing- time to let a few cruise missiles fly preferably on the "holy" city of Qom where the rabid mullahs live and who encourage the daily chants of "death to America".
same old story give us something other than the facts this is the same man that said almost the same about wmd's and have we found them yet?
i believe pres bush means well and would sincerly like to see democracy take root in the m.e.but that is impossible with the mindset the religious extremists have.bush did not bring on 9-11.what was he supposed to do-nothing?these extremists have a timetable they are following-believing that their messiah is coming back on or shortly after march 21 2007 but that in order for him to want to come they have to bring the world into chaos-and such is their fervor, the use of weapons of mass destruction by them is not out of the question.someone has to stop them-a neville chamberlain type of person is not that someone that the usa needs for a leader.we are living in perilous times.
i heard the speach given and it appeared that he only answered questions that were acceptable accoring to him. this administration are nothing but a pack of lying, sneaky politions who mislead the american people to get what they want. i am very tired of the fear factor and the lies...first Iraq, now Iran...and where is Bin-Laden? I truly hope the congress and senate put a stop to this madness now......if there is anyway they can remove this incompentent group they should do that now. as a republician i think there should be someone out there that can pu the in straight jackets & commit them to the nearest mental hospital. at least bush and chaney. Please add the morons that still believe what this administration is putting out there.....
While we have not found all the WMD's they said we would, we did find old nerve agents in artillery shells and yellow cake as well. Now, did we make mistakes? Yes but the intelligence we had was accepted by Libs as well as Conservatives alike. For the Libs to still be crying and whining about the Intell is mute. Get over it and move on. What we need is a united front against terror, not the blame game. Maybe one day all those weapons will turn up out in the desert.
yahn bush has a major problem...he cannot think and fear and lies seems to be this groups biggest and best offer to the american people you mention 9-11.....where is bin-laden? In Iraq? In Iran?...maybe he is in the white house hiding?
I'm beginning to hear sabre rattling again. Doesn't Bush have us in enough of a mess already? I think he would like to widen the war into Iran. Will we have to institute the draft again? If he goes to Iran we certainly will have to have a draft, there just aren't enough soldiers to do anything that big. I hope everyone has the stomach to watch young men and women get killed in larger numbers (and yes women are not going to be exempt from the draft!). I'm from the Vietnam Era and I wonder how many of these republicans will become liberals once they have to watch the mail and wait for their draft notice all the time seeing people they know who never made it back. Bush needs to talk and shoot later rather than shooting first and letting the next democratic president clean up. Additionally, the neo-conservatives really need to shut off that verbal garbage party line rhetoric and start using their brains for a change. I predict that Bush will expand the war. My next prediction after that is many conservatives who are directly affected by the larger war will suddenly become liberal in thinking.....much like the Reagans did about stem cell research once they had to unfortunately live through the hardship of Alzheimers disease.
Hello to the Gods of the truth, let me see? I get it the USA & Isreal should wait to see Iran first nuclear test on one of our soils in some chosen area like hills and dales and then we should be real glad for the time spent?
WOW! First off, I thought this president was supposed to be "conservative". Why does he use the U.S. war machine so liberally? Why does he spend U.S. tax dollars so liberally? Why doesn't he take a step back for a second and try diplomacy for once. And not the whole aggressive, "do this or your dead" diplomacy we've seen the last few years but, true diplomacy that uses compromise to reach goals. Maybe he doesn't want the U.S. to be liked and respected around the world. I for one do. Do you?? And the thing that ticks me off the most is that I'm basically a conservative myself but, I know wrong when I see it.
The Date marking on the “Iranian Anti-Tank Rocket Propelled Grenades” shown in slide #15 of the officially released Power Point Presentation of the Sunday 02-11-07 by Senior U.S. military officials in Iraq is FABRICATED. It seems to be a forgery/phony. As it is seen in one of the pictures of slide #15 the line under the number marking”P.G.7-AT-1” shows the marking “LOT: 5-31-2006” as an apparent manufacturing date of this grenade. Why this date marking LOT: 5-31-2006 is a fabrication? Because ONLY in United States it is customary to write a calendar date as “month-day-year”. The rest of the world (O.K. European centuries, Iran, etc.) is accustomed to write a calendar date as “day-month-year”. So I am speculating that this marking of Lot: 5-31-2006 is done by someone/entity that is accustomed with American way of writing a calendar date and not a European or Iranian way of writing a calendar date. I picked this observation from the interview of Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations with Charlie Rose broadcasted on 02-13-07 and decided to double check it for myself. Also, beside this belligerent fabrication have anyone wondered why would Iranian arm factories put a “Return Address” of serial number and fabrication date which equate to “Made in Iran within the past year” on such sensitive weapons ????.....that were smuggled into Iraq….. By Iraqi hired smugglers???? Also, why these markings are in English and not in Persian? Please check into it. P.S. used the Power Point Presentation cited in Washington Post, in an on-line column of Dan Froomkin dated 12-02-06. Or posted at http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/docs/iran-in-iraq/?resultpage=1&
The Iraq War is the perfect example of a "Political War". Wars are messy in the first place. But when the politicians use the war as a means to strike another blow at the opposing political party like our politicians are doing. It goes way beyound messy. While our soldiers continue to be killed and maimed. All of our politicians are shameful, and a disgrace. The enemy has won this war buy pitting our politicians against each other, and placing their own careers and welfare first. In the infantry we had a saying, "Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way" But for Gods sake do something, our soldiers are being killed!
I have long suspected Iraq's Neighbors of doing all they can to prevent us from prevailing in the region. If it is found, with solid presentable evidence, that Iran is really arming the insurgency and harming American troops, then we have no recourse other than to adress them sternly and forcefully. Anyone remember the old 70's take off of the song barbra ann called BOMB IRAN? Well maybee its about time we got even for them kindnapping all our citizens way back then. Or maybee just let Israel bomb the heck out of em for us. Of coarse this is only if the Iranians are indeed trying to harm our troops and their mission in Iraq. If they aren't then we should leave them alone. BTW all the whining about president bush does nothing to promote change, it just makes all of us in america sound like morons.
The "Bush" team is a crime family. The crime family is the cult of oil companies , pharma and weapons manufacturers. The crime family also consists of front organizations like Fox News who market war for oil reserves...the largest in the world exist in Iran and Iraq. Project for The New American Century-PNAC was begun by Dickless Cheney and another moneyed chickenhawk Bill Kristol of The Weekly Standard a corporate fascist agenda, manifesto and methods. In addition to messianic faux religious pretentions and corporate rule of the planet, GOP-PNAC methods center on the use of violence like shock & awe, fear as motive for mobilization of nationalistic hatred willing to attack their corproate oil & economic targets and the use of threats and direct violence taxpaid and cheered by such GOP-PNAC propaganda sources as Fox News. Their singular goal is further corporate and personal enrichment with no allegience other than that held soley for their own crime family. The GOP-PNAC planners of 911 and controlled demolitions of WTC buildings was on their schedule since 1998. When their corporate puppet George Bush was intstalled as despot in chief, their plan proceeded until pre-911 when Dick Cheney's Texas Energy Task Force concluded its mapping division of the Iraq oil pie with huge fortunes to be made for each GOP-PNAC campaign funder. When the GOP's employee Bin Laden's Muslim fundamentalists successfully flew airliners into the WTC, the last false-flag special operation was in-place. This cleared their final step to invade Iraq and then Iran which was the GOP oil businessmen's charter, their "cataclysmic event" as they prescribed to awaken and mobilize US oil-war sentiment back in their 1998 manifesto. This is no delusional paranoia, rather it remains their factual stated goal. It is the bedrock fact of the GOP-PNAC plan perfected by motivated GOP corporations headed by their puppet president and crime boss VP Cheney. Iran's oil has always been the next target for our taxes thusly waging war on Iran's government converting it to Exxon, British Petroleum and Halliburton's rule at US taxpaid gunpoint. Bid Laden remains on the US special op's payroll starting with him and the US-CIA driving Russians from Afghanistan. It was of no difficulty for this Saudi ally of George Sr. and chimp-in-chief George to find the motivated Saudi-Sunni fundamentalists to make the 911 crash show....leaving Dick Cheney and Halliburton and special op's US teams to rig and detonate the WTC buildings falling neatly uncannily into their own precise footprints. These are the facts. The moron South of the US run by the same GOP-PNAC oil-plantation CEO's and CFO's still think they are freeing Iraq and Iran for "democracy" becoming oil plantation-colonies for Halliburton and Exxon. Their GOP-PNAC CEO's love the enabling radical right religious drumbeat that the Southern style TV evangelists, stok-kar Daaaaaaydees and morons fiercely spend for buying Exxon and Halliburton their next enormously profiable Mideast oil colonies in Iraq and in Iran. War waged to steal and operate those Mideast oil reserves is the New American Century of the Old South , of the GOP -PNAC and the life-long wealth-come-true aspiration of GOP-PNAC planners. Just think how democratic the Iranians and Iraqi's will feel as subjects of Exxon and Texas's new oil colonies...all taxpaid. Also note the ongoing problem hunting down that wicked CIA operative Osama Bin Laden. Are there still questions among any serious people as to the wealth motives behind the GOP-PNAC oil men? If so, I know you have never done business with these military fascist organizations....but you have burned their gasoline with much much much more oil dependence to come: Iran's huge oil reserves next, the only GOP mission. Screw the taxpayers who will pay for it for generations....and screw the dead who cannot speak these truths after Exxon and the GOP re-write their "christian" version of events and WMD and yellow cake and fake Al kaida connections motives. Not a single Iraqi nor a single Iranian has one iota to do with 911...but who cared with such obscene war profits to be made? Not GOP "patriots." A star-spangled treason which nobody can seriously think...let alone discuss its massive import to the end of our former US rebublic...star-spangled indeed in Texas.
I agree with John Doe that it does seem a little suspicious that the labels on the alleged weapons supplied by Iran that have been recently displayed on national television are written in English. But even if Iran were suppling weapons to Iraq could we blame them? Our government is actively engaged in a shamlessly transparent attempt to bait Iran into a "Gulf of Tonkin" type incident. The U.S. has had an insidious history of covertly infering in other peoples wars, the most infamous example of this being when our government supplied weapons to not one but both sides in the Iran/Iraq war witch in my mind is nothing less than diabolical and only underlines the United States intention to not ensure the victory of one side but simply to keep a region destablized in order to maintain U.S. influence and power. They've done it in Africa for years. We are living in strange and scary times. Bushes abuses of power must be curbed before he causes another diseaster. Whether it's by impeachment or frontal lobotomy, somethings got to give.
Bush needs to be very careful when it comes to his accusations. After all were in Iraq because of the weapons of mass destruction! Bush is a liar and a war hungry Devil or should I say Anti Christ!! Impeach the Moron!!!
I see there's a few neocons/PNACs/Zionists here that are supporting Bush's lies and beating the drums of war against Iran; lies about Iraq wasn't enough for them. Looks like they've forgotten the U.S. removed Iran's elected leader years ago and installed its puppet, the Shah of Iran, the dictator that brutalized the Iranians. After that the Iranians kidnapped a few Americans, true, but they didn't kill them and released them a year later, unlike the unfortunate prisoners in America's gulags around the world who have been incarcerated for years, not charged, and have no legal representation. It's such blatant hypocrisy.
While most "Lame duck",(non-supreme court elected) presidents of the past seem to have had a harder time getting a special interest pork bill written up before he was to leave office, this president intends to use millitary force for the 2nd time on a sovereign country in a similiar pre-emptive fashion which would be a 2nd violation of article 151 of the UN charter which we what? Have evidence to violate once again? Impeachment wouldn't send a strong enough message to future presidential candidates with plans to further neo-con policies, which are as harmful to the average American as terrorists attacks, in that they detest liberalism. No, indictments must happen. First for intending to violate said article 151 for the 2nd time, illegal wiretaps including various other mis-uses of homeland security (watch how peaceful protestors against the continued out-sourcing of American jobs had helicopters communicating with under-cover operatives dispersed among the crowd, paid for with H.S. money, get beaten like criminals, or (terrorists) on satellite T.V. Lastly, our leader clearly knows more than he has let on regarding the Libby trial, which spells treason. Not a stretch for a man who was awol during wartime for more than 30 days (it's called desertion). God help Scott Fitzgerald get this cabinet on one of these indictable charges, because our house and senate seem powerless against this Frankenstein. The television news, owned by G.E., and limited others made Ross Perot look like an idiot, granted the swift-boaters airtime, and essentially will almost always make the case for neo-cons in general, will now work on telling us who we should vote for next. Again, lets thin the heard of the higher corruptable than usual, by pushing for indictments on all levels for this administration. (Rumsfeld is presently being tried for war crimes in Germany). Then let us remember not to let the media tell us who is or isn't qualified to be president in '08.
It took Bush what, 3 years before he stopped calling everyone terrorists or al Queda, many of Bush's people still call Americans terrorists & un-Ameirican. It took 3 years before he addressed insurgents as insurgents..... Now everyone is an agent of Iran.... Bush's propaganda machine & Bush himselfe cannot stop missleading our Nation.. Fire everyone in this wacky administration, America & the world would be safer.
If Iran is supplying weapons to Iraq I would assume that they are supplying the Shiite and not the Sunnis. Therefore it begs to answer who is arming the Sunnis. I would say that Saudi Arabia and maybe Egypt are supplying or supporting the Sunnis to keep them in power. I am sure these two countries would not like and are fearful of a Shiite majority in Iraq.
When Iran supplies a nuke to one of the Islamofascists and the detonate it on a major American city, the panty-waste liberal will probaly blame it on Bush. WAKE UP you stupid, naive, head-in-the-sand A--holes. If you don't, you'll end up as toast like the rest of us who are falling prey to your dilusionary view of the world. Most of the world is a nasty dog-eat-dog place. You are living in heaven and the first thing you want to do is sacrifice it for what you see as justice. In most of the world, justice is delivered from the end of a gun. Is that what you want here? If we don't protect what we have, the predators will take it from us. That includes the likes of Iran, North Korea, Russia, and China. Not to mention those rag headed Islamofacists.
We can not allow Iran to nuke us first. We should have already wiped them off the face of the earth. If we allow them to strike first I believe North Korea will join Iran and perhaps Russia and China. We need to be strong and hit Iran now. It would send a strong message to these other countries that want to see America fall. We are at WAR folks stop aiding our enemy with all your attacks against OUR President. We need to be united as Americans and support it and our leaders when we are at war for our survival.
Is it only me, or did Bush act as though he had been smoking (or drinking) something before his press conference? All that giggling, smirking and "bantering" with the press seemed rather inappropiate considering the subject matter. Are we about to get kidded into the next war?
Why no mention from the Administration o f the money pouring into Iraq from the Saudies to the Sunni. The Sunni are the most responsible for American deaths. Is it because the President holds hands with Saudi royalty?
It's hard to believe that any can support that POS bush, but as studies show he was elected by the population with the least education. Try to form opinions for yourself don't parrot all the talking heads from fox. bush lied before, he's lying now, and he will lie again to suit HIS agenda
Sharon Collins: What is appalling is your complete dishonest portrayal of life in America. W and his conservative cronies seized control of this government, and until recently, quashed debate on just about every issue that matters. Liberals had little to do with the direction of the country for the last 6 years. To accuse liberals of “tearing” this country apart is pure demagogy, is dishonest, and laughable. W and his conservative minions have had a blank checkbook to do as they wished. The end result: they created the problems of which you complain about. “Passing the buck” is a hallmark of poor leadership. To date, this administration has failed to accept responsibility for much (ref. Katrina, Plamegate, Wiretapping, WMD, Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, extraordinary renditions, illegal propaganda produced for domestic consumption, voting scams (like New Hampshire), war profiteering, Abramoff, secret energy dealings (ex Enron, California crisis), the direct series of attacks on American civil liberties, rampant cronyism (heckuva job, Brownie), or the wino in charge of Homeland Security, and etc ad nauseum). In fact, only recently did the conservatives continue to squelch Iraq debate in the Senate, by using the filibuster. Honest debate, of which there has been little in the last 6 years, has never torn anything apart. In fact, the reverse could be said to be truer: that by quashing debate, we have pursued a one-party driven course through recent history, with zero meaningful oversight possible. The leadership vacuum of the last 6 years continues, as Bush is now stumping his “grand achievements” on the North Korea. Pay no attention to the fact that the proposed solution is a Clinton-era rehash, one that BushCo has criticized from day one. Forget that we could have had this settlement at much lower cost, years ago. Some achievement. The conservatives have hijacked our government for some time now, and they have created the fiascos that we are dealing with. Their stewardship has all but bankrupted our country, and borders on malfeasance. One can only hope that some of the great liberal minds will emerge, as has happened throughout our history, which will steer America away from the fascist future that has been chosen for us by the privileged few.
IRAN'S ROLE? Not so SIMPLE, as Bush's responders with short-minded and uninformed means of THINKING (sheep mentality)! Why are we in Iraq today? Who are the major power players in the world today? What does each major power want from the US? Why does Europe count on Russian dependency for fuel supply, rather than the US? Why can't we just pack up and get out of Iraq tomorrow, regardless who the US president may be? Why NOT immediately strike and invade Iran (nuk'em as some "simple-minded" ignorants suggest)? Who will gain MOST if the US will strike to weaken Iran? Why Russia and China will support Iran regardless what they'll do? Why each US president MUST have the JEWISH (Israeli) vote to win? Why do we HAVE to support Israel (Christian access to Jerusalem vs. Muslim control) militarily regardless what they'll do in Palestine or Middle East? Many, many tough unanswered questions that the US Congress and even MORE crucial, the MEDIA should have asked BEFORE the presidential POWERS to go to WAR have been voted on and was hastefully granted by a cowardly Congress. We all are emotional beings, but when it comes to WAR, SIMPLE emotions can NOT and should NOT be allowed to decide in these type of deadly decisions. A well defined DECISION PROCESS with at least a 2 dozens points check-list should be followed by the President and at least 4 dozens points check-list be followed by Congress with backbone QUESTIONING and DEBATING the President's requests and FACTS presented for going to WAR before ANY such vote is even allowed. The Media, the Polls, the "opinions", the "stupid" haste to make such a vital decision is RUSHED and THIS my dear, ignorant, emotional and uninformed fellow Americans is the OUTCOME !!! It's OUR FAULT not Bush's!!!! We voted him in office the 2nd. time and gave him the POWERs he has today!!!! Does it hurt when you realize you did a very STUPID thing? GOOD!!!! Then DEAL with it America and STOP blaming the Republicans, or Democrats, or God, because NOW it doesn't really matter any-more!!! Shame on ALL of us STUPID SHEEP!!! Please start THINKING before you ALL elect the next President in POWER!!! Who is that going to be? Hillary, who supported the President to go to WAR and is backed by NY Jewish $$$$? John Edwards, who now also says that if he was presented with all the facts he would have voted differently, McCain who is still supporting Bush for going to WAR? Gulliani who supported the war but doesn't agree how it was fought and as a NY Mayor kissed up to the Israelis right after the 9/11 strike? The religious RIGHT Mormon? The Mexican from New Mexico? Maybe Obama, who in my opinion has nothing to gain nor loose, but who knows, may be the best as an OUTSIDER? No more excuses, Elected Congress members representing us the PEOPLE, MUST ask, debate and obtain all the necessary information and true FACTS before going to WAR, or we must as well accept being a dictatorship and not a DEMOCRACY as we claim to be. Please, no more EXTREME religious Bush-alikes!!! This is AMERICA and I demand that our government represents ALL of US, the PEOPLE!!! Thank you all for reading and hopefully you will ALL be THINKING a little more before you cast your next Presidential VOTE. Bob
I am sick and tired of hearing about Iranians, even in this country. Are Iranian in the US Americans or not? Quds Force, are they here also as part of the Amirsoleymani force?
Re: Ms Johansons comment. You hit it on the button. GW is being driven by the influence of the Jeane Kilpatrick neocons that have recently risen to prominence in his administration. Somewhat, by default, as other more astute and rational policy people have been driven out or have resigned. Chiefly, Elliot Abrams is a significantly dangerous individual and I understand he plays a pivotal role as an advisoR To GW now. This man was the brains behind the Iran/Conta scandal, poor Ollie North was just the fall guy. Another Neocon of concern is John Negroponte, who coincidentely was ambassador to Honduras at the time of the US backed militarization there. And, well there there is also that our new Secretary of Defense, Mr Gates, not only facilitated assistance to Saddam when he was at war with Iran, but also advocated for the 'carpet bombing' of Nicaragua. I have also been told that Mr. Gates had a role in trying to put out some of the fires regarding the CIAs possible role in the JFK assasination. Jees, its almost as if John Foster and Allen Dulles have been reincarnated behind the sceens of GWs government.
Bravo Kristen, and many of the contributors. I would simply like to respond to Joey (San Diego, 2/14/07 5:30 PM)who stated: "The Iranian people...hate the U.S. with a passion." I am an American woman, and I spent 3 weeks in Iran in Aug. 2005. I was in the capital, and several major cities, in the company of Iranians, and met with those of varying social levels. I was simply a visitor and tourist. I was openly there as an American, and I have rarely been treated with as much courtesy, kindness, and true hospitality. I felt totally safe, honored, and welcome. I saw a prosperous, modern society and country that is more interested in the usual things people want, (good education, good jobs, and the comforts and conveniences of a good life) than campaigning against our country. They also critised their own government, and pushed for liberalization, modernization, and freedoms within their own coutry. But if our government continues its attempt to push us into an unwarrented attack against a sovereign nation, those same citizens, in self-defense, will indeed be obliged to learn to "hate America with a passion."
Reading these post's I get so very angry. So many of you still do actually fall for all this nonsense that our fearless leader is dishing out. I think all of you that support this war and future war's should have to go fight them. I am a Nam Vet, so I have been in war, unlike those that choose to talk about something that they haven't done or wish to do. IT'S ALL GOOD AND WELL JUST AS LONG AS SOMEONE ELSE DOSE THE FIGHTING FOR YOU. You are all for the war just because someone tell's you it's right. If someone would tell you to go jump off a bridge would you do that also? This all started behind 9/11, our fearless leader said that Iraq had wmd,and lead you into thinking that somehow Iraq was involved in 9/11. So we go kill thousands of innocent people because our fearless leader said it was the right thing to do. Was it? Ok Saddam wasn't such a nice guy, but dose that give us the right to destroy a country because they do not live as we do? Now we are planning to attack Iran. The smarter of you will relize that we are not over there because of bad people. We are trying to take over the middle east. See if you control that area you also control all the oil. It's called greed. Did you ever wonder why we didn't attack N. Korea? Comon we attacked Iraq just because Bush said Iraq had wmd. N.Korea actually tested one. Were we affraid of N.Korea? No, they just do not have anything that we want. If they had alot of oil in N. Korea you can bet your behind that we would of attacked them also. By the way what ever happened with the hunt for Osoma?
President Bush assured the Americans that the Iranian manufactured and delivered IEDs have been killed 170 of our troops in Iraq. I am wondering why Mr. Bush did not tell us about who killed the remaining 2961 American soldiers and marines in the Iraqi war on terror! Are the 170 killed American troops for some reasons more valuable than the other 2961? On the other hand as we know, there are at least 30,000 terror suspected persons detained in the US controlled prisons in Iraq . We should ask the question: How many Iranian agents among them? The US allied Iraqi government spokesman Dr. Ali Aldabbagh claimed last week via ARABIYA TV that 60% of the terrorists who kill innocent people in Iraq are coming through Syrian borders. Why didn't he tell us about the infiltrated Iranian borders? And what does it mean that the Sunni Iraqi President Jalal Al-Talabani has never mention that Iran may be involved in the terrorism activities on Iraqi soil? Why the Iraqi PM did a couple days ago warn both Iran and USA from solving their personal diffences on Iraqi fields?
when will we americans face the truth: there are no wmd in iraq. there never have been any such weapons. therefore, why are our troops there? certainly not because the 911 terrorists were harbored there. no they were in saudi arabia. it was because the usa wishs to have some input (influence) into OPEC'S pricing/supply decisions, thus possibly pro-longing the so called american lifestyle held together mainly by inexpensive oil. Of course making untold billion dollars also entered into the picture. as for irans supplying weapons to iraqs so called "insurgents" , the obvious question is why are they insurgents? if our troops were not in iraq then there would be no insurgents. no doubt there would be civil war. but like in all other countries where there has been civil war; the strogest usually prevail and some type of government is established . it might not be a government we americans like , but we did not like saddam's goverment either. if the american people let bush continue he will find excuses to attack every country in the middle east. and when through there , lookout hugo chavez and venezuella . afterall they too are harboring terrorists, insurgents, etc, etc, etc. oh yeah they also happen to supply about 17 % of the usa's yearly oil requirment. MEXICO NEXT?
