I totally agree with Frankie. It deeply saddens anyone with love for these innocent and helpless children, who are unable to stand up and defend themselves. I pray everyday that our Lord keep each child on this Earth safe from harm and evil. May God be with each of these children that sadly has to die in this manner. Just thinking of the look on the faces and the confusion thats going on in each childs thinking right before and during the brutal death they face, just rips and tears my heart apart. There is only one way hope in Africa, any part of Africa. The Union Jack, the Tricolor and the Schwarz-Weiss Rott has to fly over government house in each of these states once again and we have to send out European and American administrators to run these states. They have to go back to being colonies with non-Africans in charge. Then we have to establish orphanages and foundling homes to take children who are orphanages and whose parents don't want them, raise them completely in the Euro-American cultural system, and massacre everyone else in the country. Then, when the children turn 21, we can turn the states back over to them.

"God help them??" It's the belief in the supernatural and the "unseen forces" that are causing this to begin with. When you keep a people poor and uneducated things like this happen. Religion isn't going to help them. Whose to say which one is the correct one? Christianity? Its killed more people in the last 2000 years than any other event in history. Islam? Its not much better as it tells you to kill everyone else who doesn't believe the same thing you do. Why don't we just educate these people, give them the means to educate themselves and let them chose. Declare these "priests" and shaman as what they really are, murderers and lock them away.

ha... I think it's kind of ironic for sandy to ask God to be with each of these children and to bless them all. Why it's ironic is because, right and wrong is very relative to which society is observed. These "witch doctors" aren't "crazy" men who are jumping out of the bushes and sacrificing children because the voices in their heads tell them to. They're "witch doctors"..... spiritual leaders of their local religious belief systems. I think it's terrible that it goes on... but I think it's one of those situations where people are ignorant to the facts of the matter and wish to blindly impose their belief system on another society. This isn't happening in downtown washington, we're talking about Africa..... it's a whole different world there. Some places of Africa, there's no age of concent.. most are between 13 and 15 yrs old, and some places they fine homosexual activity with anything from 100,000 Burundian francs and up to 3 years imprisonment to death. Do we see people all up in arms over that? Some countries think that cheese is a sickening garbage that is unfit to eat... lol.. Places eat dogs.. animals some people, here, treat as well as their own children. I just had to say something because I found it so ironic that someone will post calling for their god to take action on a situation where others are acting on what they believe their god/s want in order to receive blessings.

Those who serve the god of reason/enlightenment/education are deluded to think it only takes rationality to elevate mankind above greed, murder, violence, torture, enslavement, seduction, manipulation, control/dominance, lethargy/apathy/indifference, intolerance of good, tolerance of evil--to name a few characteristics of humanistic morality at its worst. At best, it projects evil in the other and objects when accused of evil in the self. Religion based on man made ideas leads to emptiness or on missions to destroy and conquer; Christianity is based on relationship between God and man and man with man. The sacrifices of missionaries volunteering to go into Africa were and are based on the love of God to bring good news of the Gospel (meaning "good news") to those sitting in the prison of the mind and soul in darkness, blindness, ignorance, whims of the rulers and manipulation of the witch doctors. Missionaries with the truth that sets men free (not those who were sent to bring about cultural changes but rather soul changes) brought in light, love, honor, humility, integrity, respect, as well as training/education, health/wellness overhauls, family/community unity, environmental upgrades, animal husbandry where needed, water and energy development where needed, transporation development, etc. The world came to bring tourists/safaris, grab onto gold/diamond/mineral rights, create boundaries to add to their control from afar, or to bring in strife, division, snatch/snag individuals and communities for enslavement and profit, enforce man made rules to dominate people using a "god" as motivation, add income to national coffers in far away places--many of these things were done by educated, trained, experienced individuals, companies and groups--who had power and pleasure and wanted more!

Why is it we have the disdain for these guys, and then want to put them away for life in mental institutions and yet have such a horrible feeling for what is being done in Uganda. Lets not let, as the person a few comments ago said, other agendas come into the conversation. These men who rightfully have no place to exist in humanity, should be put to death. They have no function in ANY society. The love of life, and the joy of living is not just for those of us who have been fortunate enough to have been born into democratic societies. Liberating these people has been on the list of things to do for the U.N. since its inception. Maybe if we as free people put up enough of a voice, we can bring this horrific ongoing tragedy to a halt. Shame on our government, people, and religious institutions for not trying harder, if at all to stop such a blatant abuse of the innocent. This should have been at the top of all of our Presidents agendas. Forget about how we can make healthcare more affordable or how we can bailout another poorly run business. We have it so good here, and yet we turn a blind eye to some of the most ridiculous and unimaginable crimes against our brothers and sisters. Write your elected officials and implore them to take on this fight. It is the only way we as a people can have a voice. And don't do it just once, keep at it. As they say, it's the squeeky wheel that gets the grease. God bless all of the children everywhere, but lets put a little more emphasis towards those who are truely at risk today.

After watching those vids.. hearing the English they were speaking (other than that obviously ignorant tribal witch doctor), I'm so relieved to see that African people aren't still so primitive and outdated as I thought they were. I mean crap, we're living in times where science is making tubes of carbon that are 1/100,000th the width of the average human hair... I think that people like that witch doctor who was speaking some.. primitive language should drop what they're doing and learn english and conform already.. because admit it, who wants diversity? We need to all start meeting up in giant buildings that can house meetings for all countries and decide what is going to be acceptable behavior... help those who believe in ghosts to realize that it's not real, and stop this primitive-like show, 'ghost hunters' because spirits are just... well, they're just crazy talk! Child sacrifice is abhorrent and sickening. Who would knowingly and willingly terminate the life of their own offspring! That type of behavior could be a sign deeply disturbing mental instability or extreme self-centeredness. Imagine someone willing to end the life of their own innocent child's life in pursuit of their own comfort, gain or well-being. If they are willing to do that, then whom or what is next for them to give up to get what they want?

I feel sorrow and compassion for the innocent lives that are lost at the hands of those entrusted to care for them. I feel disgust and revulsion towards those that are responsible for such occurances. What possible rational, reasonable cause could warrant taking, giving away, sacrificing or terminating an innocent human life just for the benefit of the living?

I believe trying to justify such demented and horrid behavior to be sad, unconscionable and wholly unacceptable. Its my personal opinion that any society which kills it own young has no ground to stand on for the future and most likely will, and historically such behavior will, hasten its own demise.

The topic isn't about abortion, but it is about murder of children already born and breathing that are being put upon the alter of the self-serving of the earth. There are many ways to kill a child and not all involve actual taking of life... child molesters kill children on all levels leaving nothing but a confused shell of a human being. Religious fanatics that likely would scream at the abortionist have no problem with the murder of a child in Palestine since to them it is a "fulfillment of prophecy" and even a duty! Hypocrites all! "Witch doctor" is a colonial, European term, and is inaccurate. In Zimbabwe, for example, n'angas as they are called in the Shona language are more like folk healers. They have an extensive knowledge of local herbs, many of which are used as medicines, treating everything from an upset stomach to poisonous snakebites. Some of the local herbs have been shown to contain chemicals that do have a pharmacological effect. However, there are also certain practices of local n'angas that are potentially harmful. For example, the practice of making a small incision at the jugular notch to release bad spirits or poisons. I saw many children in Zimbabwe that had small scars at their jugular notch where n'angas had made a small incision with a razor blade. The idea here is similar to the 18th century idea of releasing "humeurs" via bloodletting, which was common in Europe and the Americas during that time. The reason why this is potentially harmful is that the n'angas rarely if ever sterilize their cutting instruments, and in a country with a high HIV infection rate, you can see how this practice can quickly spread the virus to uninfected populations.

Absolutely amazing - what more proof do you need that there is no such thing/person/entity except that which is in your mind - If human beings as a species paid a little more attention to their conscience the prevelance of crimes against children on this planet would not be nearly so many!!!

Things such as child sacrifice, which can be viewed as an evil, are merely examples of human's exercise of free will and free will is something that God has given us in order to live how we wish instead of being His robots. Free will is also what gives us the CHOICE to live according to our interpretation of His will for us or living in sin. If God were to stop these "witch doctors" from taking parts of children, adults, or digging up the dead in order to complete some ritual which is believed to give good fortune or hurt the target individual/s, God would be interfering with that free will which he's given us to live our life. By God taking someone's ability to choose away, that would contradict the whole reason He even made humanity. This is, of course, speaking in context to Christianity and the Bible. Without free will, we wouldn't be. So... just because people choose, in their free will, to do "evil" doesn't disprove God's existence.. it only serves as another example of what God sent Jesus to die on the cross for. It's just ignorant to make a statement like you did.

To attempt to rationalize these horrible acts by saying it's God letting us exercise free will is pathetic. Basically what you are saying is if You were god, and you are standing next to some terrified kid as someone starts whacking on him with a machete, it's ok because he's just exercising free will? You going to look this kid in the eye as he's being butchered and tell him "Sorry kid, but I really do have a master plan"? ANYONE who has the power to stop something like this and yet chooses not to does not deserve an ounce of respect. That includes your god.

In todays world I would hope that God has changed his mind and evolved in the belief that people must kill any person or animal for a sacrifice. We are going way way back into biblical times where beheading, dismemberment, and animals are sacrificed here. I think God wants a different kind of sacrifice today........People just plain getting along and loving one another......it will never happen.

The day organized religion is dissolved is the day we could all truly look to understand, welcome and respect each other as equals.  Until then there will always be division and there is no hope.

Organized religion is meant to unite people, but in many cases it has only accomplished separation, stereotypes, and war amongst peoples. Organized religion can promote ignorance instead of alleviating it.

OR is based upon unsubstantiated facts which are followed blindly out of necessity for control and order amongst groups of people and by people who are incapable of dealing with their day to day so are in need of removing all focus and responsibility from themselves to a "higher" power.

One thing I would like to add, that no one seems to be touching on is these witch doctors that are doing this are NOT crazy "uga buga" magic men. They are cold hearted businessmen. THEY ARE BENEFITTING FINANCIALLY FROM THIS. Either through the sale of body parts or through the act of sacrificial rituals on behalf of their clients, THEY GET PAID TO DO THIS! The reason most of these sacrifices happen is because witch doctors convince their clients that a human sacrifice is necessary to appease the spirits of the dead, and that they will receive great financial rewards for appeasing the spirits. This all happens because of money. It is absolutely disgusting that this happens.

All of you digressing and bringing abortion into this - I don't know many women who've had abortions because they think they're going to receive a great financial windfall coming their way due to the "sacrifice". On the issue of abortion, it is always going to be a controversial subject with people having different opinions. However, I don't know many people who have "different" opinions on the issue of Child Sacrifice. Everyone I have come across in this campaign has been horrified to hear that this happens and agrees that it must be stopped.
